I have JUST registered and read but a few messages here. I am stunned about this desease. My daughter send me this a.m. the website so I could learn more about this. It takes my breath away.

I had no idea what my daughter was going through. She loves life and has a boyfriend who cares about her deeply.

I don't know what words to use to give all here strength. I will keep reading occasionally this Message Board so that I might learn.

May God give you power over your adversities.

I hope your daughter gives you a big ol' hug.....Lots of people on here don't get the support and comfort they need from one or all of their family members. I'm glad your daughter can come to you.
I am one of those lucky ones that my mother read up on this and makes me feel comfy enough to go shopping or eating out together.
She even makes me laugh when we're trying to locate the closest facilities!
Hugs to you and her....:grouphug:

I absolutely agree that you are a very special mother to be willing to take the time to understand your daughter's disease. I'm sure you'll want to read the information in the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com./handbook/

There's also a book, written by urologist Robert Moldwin, titled, "The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide," which gives a very clear explanation of IC and will answer many questions for both you and your daughter.

Just knowing you understand will help her the most. And taking her diet needs into consideration when planning family dinners or meals out can also be a help.

And if you have any questions, feel free to post them.

Warm hugs,
Donna

To All Posters Here: I am amazed how many of you responded to me. TKS!

Maybe not upon second thought. I am addicted to another Board, that of the Red Hat Society, more specifically their chat room. I am the only Canadian who plays with them in the room. So I know for a fact American people are very outgoing and friendly just as we are north of your border.

Last night I was with my daughter. I asked her to show me the list of foods she could and could not have. She tries really hard to adhere to it but she does have her days when it is difficult.

She and her boyfriend are moving to Calgary this fall. I will miss her presence but know that email and long-distance phone calls will keep us in touch.

THANK YOU for your kind words.

Hi,
You are a wonderful mother. Your daughter is right, the diet can be very difficult. One thing that helps me a lot it using Prelief,
http://www.prelief.com/.

It helps take acid out of the food that might bother us. Diet is also a very individual thing.

I wish you both well and come see us anytime, we will be happy to help any way we can.:hi:

Hi everyone, it's me, arcticfox.

Diva 1 is my mom. I am so happy to see that she has taken the effort to learn about my IC. It helps me to know that a family member is trying to understand the pain and uncomfortableness that I go through when I am flaring or when I can't sleep at night cause I am getting up every 45 minutes to go pee! Or the limits I have on certain food and beverages. Or the uneasiness I have about traveling or just having plain doubts about myself as a person because of my illness.

Thank you for all your kind words and making her feel very welcome.
