Hi everyone, i had a cysto/hydro done 1 week ago and I am feeling pretty good from it! :woohoo: (even though I lost my job when I returned to work yesterday! :cussing:)
But i have been battling a severe headache for the past 5 days. I do not think it is a migrane since most people say they cannot even function with a migrane and this is not that severe. But, its still bad and its interfering with me feeling better.
I have tried the tylenol and even some of my pain meds for IC for this damn headache and so far no results.
Anyone have some home remedies to solve this? Or is this just a case of lying down and resting until it passes?
Also, has anyone else gotten a terrible headache for days after a cysto/hydro?
This headache is driving me nuts! UGH!
Thanks all!

After both surgeries where I was put under I got horrid splitting headaches from the anesthesia, that's what my dr told me anyway. But they lasted for only a few days after each surgery. I put cold packs on my neck and head to help relieve the pain.
Sorry to hear about your job, happy to hear you are feeling better after the hydro:)
Hope the headaches go away soon...have you talked to your dr to see if it could be related to the meds you are taking? I know when I first started taking pain meds and ambien both gave me bad bad headaches.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much for your quick response Briza, I really appreciate it :)
I cannot for the life of me get a hold of my doctor, I have left countless messages and there has been no call back. I do not think its the pain meds since I have been on them, or some variance of them for years now. Maybe its the anestheia that caused it - could be a likely source since this was my first IC related "going under" surgery.
I guess its just back to resting and I will definately try the cool pack on my neck to see if that illeviates some of the pounding.
Thanks again for the quick response and for the well-wishes about my current situation, I really hope you are doing well too! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

You really should be seeing your doctor. I suggest you call and make an appointment ASAP.

Did you have a spinal when you were put under? Headaches are a common side effect of spinals - If you did have a spinal, drink caffeine and when you lie down, lie down on your side and don't lean your head forward (as washing your head in the sink). I once had a spinal headache that was so bad, they actually gave me a caffeine mix via intravenous in the er.

Thanks everyone for the responses! The headache has finally faded. I think that it was perhaps a mix of the anaesthia and the fact that I was taking more pain meds than I was normally used to taking.
To answer any unresolved questions - I did not have a spinal, I opted for the going under option. I have yet to get a hold of my urologist so I am thinking of following Donna's advice and just making an appointment with my general doctor to confirm all is well just to be on the safe side.
Again, thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate the fact that everyone here takes time out of their day to help others.
You are all in my thoughts!

Hi Stef:
I am conflicted about the doxepin. Yes, it helps me sleep but it does nothing for the frequency so it just means for me, that when I wake up all night to pee I am really out of it. Thats for a good night though, and that is rarely.
When I am in pain however, like in a particularly bad flare up I do find that the doxepin is helpful for getting into a relaxed state to help calm me down and rest properly.
Obviously it is entirely your decision, I would recommend it for those who are always in a lot of pain that is hard to manage, but otherwise it might not be worth it. To be honest I find it stronger sometimes than morphine - for the sole reason that it hits me harder and faster than the heavier narcotics, but maybe I have just gotten used to them :)
Send me a PM if you have any more questions or want to talk :)
