They are still trying to figure this out... just this morning... one person guessed that one computer from anywhere in the world infected... could potentially infect every website it visits... and then the users of that website. That's just a guess on the part of the experts... but it's ironic that:

#1 - Norton only added this to their virus updates on the 23rd.... after it had been out since the 1st.
#2 - Just yesterday, Microsoft issued an urgent security patch for people running with Windows servers and running Windows software about these "backdoor trojans."

Also, one thing to be aware of.. this trojan, if you accidentally activate the fake security download (that looks just like a Microsoft security update), that's when the really bad things happen... including the installation of rogue spywar, massive popups for fake security software, porno websites and, worst of all, it attempts to change your router or DNS settings to direct all of your keystrokes to a server in Russia. Inotherwords, they get all of your passwords and CC numbers if you buy anything on-line.

The trojan does NOT affect MAC operating systems but if you are on a shared Network with a PC that is affected.. then there is a chance that your router has also been affected thus redirectlng all of your keystrokes to Russia too.

In the meantime, please make sure that you update all of your virus software as of today...

I just want you to know that we have been doing intense scans of our server daily.... and it's testing clean. We caught it before any malicious downloads occurred on our end... but we have isolated that specific computer which will have the hard drive wiped and redone. I had to fork out almost $1000 yesterday to by a new computer for the warehouse. Better safe than sorry.

I was wondering how can you tell if your Mac gets a Virus or Trojan?

You usually have Norton for Mac on your system and do scans maybe once a month or so.

Our Norton Antivirus does automatic scans frequently.

hmmmm I don't have Norton's anymore on my macs. And our IT dept at work doesn't run Norton's either. I know that my Kernel has panicked and now that mac is at the Apple store being serviced....:confused::confused:

Anyone who ventures on the internet needs an antivirus program. There aren't as many viruses on Macs, but there are some.

Ok thanks..Will get one then.. I was just told by the seller at Best Buy.. That NO virus protection was needed.. Now I ALWAYS kept mine updated on my PC and ran virus protections all the time..Guess I will be looking into on now..
