I noticed in the other section a question about using apple cider as salad dressing and I know that like me, to many people vinegar is vinegar. So I thought I'd post my recipe for Salad dressing since many people are so desperate for new tastes. I use Goats yogurt because I can't tolerate cows milk and it tastes alot like sour cream. Sometimes, depending on how my bladder is, to thicken it, I may add a teaspoon of mayonaise. I suggest that you do this only if you can handle mayonaise. The freeze-dried spices I use are lighthouse and I grind them with a mortar and pestle.

1/2 c Goats yogurt plain
1 tsp mayonaise (optional)
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp dill weed
1 tsp dill seed crushed
1/4 tsp dry mustard (optional)
1/4 tsp paprika
2 tsp powdered freeze-dried garlic
2 tsp powdered freeze-dried red onion

combine together in a bowl. Let spices marry 1 hour at least. Will keep until expiration date on yogurt container. * you can sweeten with a little sugar but then yogurt will only last 3-5 days.

Where do you find your freeze dried red onion??? I use freeze dried minced onion in many of my dishes, but have never seen the red onion, only white. Do you know if the red comes minced or only powder? Thanks!
And thank you for sharing your recipe...sounds wonderful, tho I will have to omit a few things to make it tolerable for me. I love plain yoghurt, especially a good quality Bavarian one, but have to use it sparingly as it is a trigger for me, tho I think I could adjust the amount and make it tolerable...sometimes when making sauces w/ plain yoghurt I use half milk and half yoghurt. Well, this sounds great...salads are my fav snack.:)Bri

Sorry for the late reply (aren't computer viruses wonderful?) I find my freeze dried onion in IGA (Sobeys) and Save On Foods. I'm in Surrey BC, Canada. But here's their website *** maybe they can direct you to a store that carries their product. I love all their freeze-dried spices because they have no preservatives.
