Just wanted to share that the IC diet was a huge help in eliminating the intense bladder pain I was experiencing but i was still unable to sleep at night without some heavy-duty med because of the bladder pressure.
My sister told me she had the same problem many years ago and found Colon Hydro-Therapy to be the answer (inflammed colon pressing on the bladder causing the irritation and pressure).
If you have IC you know i was willing to explore that option (no matter how weird it sounded) before allowing my uro to stick a scope in my bladder (sister told me she did all the procedures with a uro and nothing helped).
So...what I want to share is after one treatment I have slept two full nights-med free with almost no sign of pressure. The day after the treatment i only peed once every several hours-amazing!!!
:woohoo:I am going for another treatment today-it seems several are needed to really clean out the entire colon-which will stretch to accomodate whatever is in it.
I will continue posting my IC symptoms and it may just be a short remission but i really do think it helped significantly and i just had to share the info. I found the therapist by asking at my local health food store-didn't want to go to someone without a reference!:woohoo:

I suggest discussing this kind of treatment with a physician before doing it.

Hmmm, interesting. It seems there are others investigating a colon/bladder link. http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52409
I have to admit I will need a good dose of positive data & results before I try this. Guess my concern is what potential problems this might cause, especially if one's already prone to constipation problems.
My bladder (and bowels for that matter), while not perfect, has been on an even keel and I'd hate to do anything to upset what seems to be a delicate balance.

I hear ya!!! I was very hesitant to try it myself!!
I can't say I particularly enjoy it either-but if it is going to prevent the bladder discomfort and loss of sleep-it's worth it! I also believe it is a way to boost the body's immune system and detox.
I have had Chronic Fatigue for 17 years and I have read about colon cleansing for a long time. When this bladder thing happened and my sister told me the colon cleanse rid her of the same bladder symptoms many years ago-it was the last straw. I broke down and tried it.
I am on day three of no issues-but will post if I do have any arise. I only shared to help others suffering as I was- not looking to steer anyone in the wrong direction!!

what exactly is this? And who performs it? Is it an enema or something like that or a colon cleansing. I would be very interested in more information please. Thanks, and continued success to you..

I was speaking about a colon cleanse, colonic, colon hydro therapy. They all refer to the same thing although there are different systems on the market. I got a referral from my local Health food store-often a wealth of information. There is also a website I checked out with information and referrals throughout the nation. I will post it after I find it.
The therapist I am going to gave me an awesome book called "inside poop"-very comprehensive on the subject and fully explains the reasoning behind it. I am sure there are many books you can read on the subject at the library or Barnes and Noble.
I can offer names of therapists in Lancaster, PA, NYC or South Florida. Let me know if that is a location you are in. Other than that I do not know.

I am very happy for you. I wonder if a coffee enema or another type of enema might possibly do the same thing? Any thoughts?

Well, from what I am reading that helps to clean out a small portion of the colon but no where near a cleaning that the colonic offers. So, would help but not as much.

I received a couple of requests for info on Colon Cleansing. Here is a reputable website that offers info and references to practitioners - www.detoxtheworld.com. I am so excited because I was able to add a small amount of fruit back to my diet and I am still symptom free!!! I missed the fruit most of all!
