For the last 2 years i have been suffering with severe nausea in the a.m:toilet:., i weighed 146 and now i currently am at 96.5 ibs, its getting very frustrating! :cussing: I can't keep steady clothes that fit, and i'm a short girl 4"11' so its already aggrevating enough to find them the right length, now i'm at the thrift stores once a week trying on 10 different pair, and not having any luck! I also have a lump in the left side of my abdomen, or a couple of them, or it could be one that grows, my dr says it is IBS, but i have learned that sometimes they want the quick way out, if it was IBS i feel like i would have days where the lump wasn't there?? but i hurt really bad down my left leg, which it feels like the lump is swollen into my hip, I feel like i walk around with a tire around my waist, my stomach is so tender, i can't bend, lift, or walk for long periods or even short periods some days, the whole abdomen feels hot to the touch, along with low back pain, and i feel like there is a shock going through my body 85% of my day, i get shaky in the mornings, and i usually can only hold a quarter to half of my meals..Starting from the bottom of my ribs to the lower left part of my abdomen and down my left leg throb, constantly, its does turn to mild pain but i feel it constant, i have been to the ER during a severe attack, i have had an mri (which showed 7 bulging disk), abd scan, ultrasound, pelvic exrays, exray of my hip, spinal exrays, colonoscopy, and upper endo scopy, and everything comes back normal! A few years ago, i had some similar symptoms and uderwent a laparoscopy which found a mass on my uterus, but biopsy proved normal findings.. (which now my dr's say I have a mildly tender uterus but with no cause. I have neck pains and muscle weakness, it takes me around 1.5-2 hrs previously only 45 min-1 hr. i have suffered with female organ problems since i was around 13, and now i am 24! It only gets worse, this episode has been ongoing for 2.5 yrs now! I need to know what is going on....!!!!!so anyone who has any of these same symptoms please reply! thanks

Your symptoms do not sound like interstitial cystitis. You might want to think about seeing a different primary care physician for an opinion --- sometimes a different doctor will spot things others have missed.
I hope you get some answers soon.

I agree with Donna. You should continue looking for a doctor who will be able to help you. The symptoms you just described do not sound like IC.

I have been to several doctors, ER rooms sometimes 1-3 a month different hospitals, and different clinics, and different specialist in all various fields, gyn,(ab paps- biopsy-mild dysplasia, normal), colonoscopy(normal results- he said it was a nerve, he prescribed doxepin which made me severly irratible!) The ER doctors think i'm depressed and thats why i'm sick(but my depression came on after i was sick for almost a year and nothing was looking any better because they couldnt find what was wrong, i eventually had to leave my job, and i then started working part time hours, and eventually had to leave that. Finally in Jan 08 i started seeing my regular physician(now) and she has sent me to all other specialist, in May we finally found 7 bulging disk from my upper back to right above my butt bone, i thought it was sciatia pain, so i started taking treatment for my back, but that was making me hurt worse down my leg and in my stomach, and the vomiting/nausea was only getting worse, so i started going back to my pcp, she sent me to the urologist next to test for IC, which he said i have mild interstitial cystitis that he could see where my bladder had been inflammed, because i do suffer with urinary frequency, and going often, not being able to empty my bladder, I'm not disagreeing that i might have been misdiagnosed, but does any one have an idea what it could be, i have thought about kidney failure, or leaky gut, dysfunctional pelvic, endometriosis,or even a squished or pinched nerve from my disk,. i never finished treatment so i dont know for sure if i was treated completely, no one ever did another mri to make sure it was better..I'm am physically and mentally exhausted by going to the dr and waisting my time there, and then they tell me that its all in my head, I just want to get better so that i can get back to leading a normal healthy lifestyle!!!! I have tried several symptom checkers, which all usuallly narrow down to serious conditions, but i can't seem to get my drs to feel the same..ANYONE have any ideas??????

Freefromic-Arent your doctors very alarmed that you have lost that much weight and are vomiting everyday?!?!?!? What kinds of specialists have you been to? Do you live close to any large Hospitals that are cosiderd "teaching institutions"?
You poor thing!! I will be praying for you. You are so young to be in this much pain and discomfort....
But i do understand. I had alot of health problems beginning at age 15 (starting with IC) and nearly missed all of high school.
Hang in there....

You might want to consider continuing with physical therapy for your back problems. Have you seen a neurologist? If not, with your diagnosis of bulging discs, it could be a very good idea.

I agree that you definately need to keep looking until you find a Dr. that will take your problems seriously. You said you had a lapro a few years ago. I am wondering if maybe it might be a good idea to get a Dr. to repeat it. Just b/c endo wasnt there then, doesnt mean it isnt there now. Also, you could have adhesions from the previous surgeries and female problems you mentioned. Just a thought.
Something else too...it is quite possible that there isnt ONE thing wrong. It may be that your symptoms are throwing the Drs off b/c there could be more than one disease/illness going on. For example, some pain could be from IC, some from your back issue, some may be from adhesions, and the nausea/vomiting could be from GERD (which is quite common in ICers.) I have GERD and defininaly get nauseated when my stomach is empty, (like early in the mornings.) Also, there is a special diet to follow with it and usually an r/x antacid is r/xed. (I take Aciphex.) Whether or not you have GERD, a gastro should be consulted for the n/v and for the IBS. A Gyno should be involved since you have a history of problems in that area, and a good Gyno may also be able to treat your IC, (my Gyno treats mine.) I would also consult an orthepedic regarding your past back issues, to see if things are resolved or not. Naturally, you will also need a Uro (if your Gyno doesnt treat IC), and a General Practioner or Family Dr to keep track of your general health and coordinate care and oversee things with the specialists.
If anywhere along the way you arent sure about the specialists opinion, then trust your gut and get a 2nd opinion.
I know it is frustrating to have to see so many Drs. I have to see quite a few myself. I have had to see almost all of those myself b/c I had so many things going on. But, when you arent sure what's going on and no one else is either, then you just cant take shortcuts.
I hope that you get some answers soon. They may not come all at once...they may trickle in a little at a time. But, they WILL come if you keep at it and see specialists for each thing.
Kind regards,
Amaranthe

Thank you all for your replies, i appreciate any ideas that i can get about this, my pcp, seems concerned one visit, and less concerned with the next, i feel like they only look at the main symptom, which they are trained to do, but i feel like the symptoms are connected, maybe with the lump because i hurt mainly on my left side and down my left leg gets numb, like something is cutting off my circulation into my hip and leg. I have tried to Express My Concern as the patient, but doctors usually focus on the lump, and tell me it is IBS with backed up bowel but like i said earlier, "wouldn't it eventually go away? Its been there and gradually gotten bigger within 2 years. Which i also think the foul odor in my mouth comes from my stomach,( its not actually in my mouth but more when i cough or swallow) I have another appt for a pelvic ultrasound in the morning, for a new gyno that i had seen on fri. She said she is going to get the other 4 ultrasounds(internal and external) films to compare. Do test always show the correct results, why can't anyone see the lump that i feel? I have permently put nail scars in the lower left part of my abdomen from having to massage deep into my stomach to relieve myself, (B.M. or on occasion to urinate) Thanks to all who have responded and continue to help in my search for relief!

I am so sorry to hear of all your pain and frustration. I have had pain in my hip and side(right) for over 10 years and my toes and foot go numb. DOcts always look at me like humm, i dont know. but you seem fine. I am still pushing to find out what that is or if it is connected to the possiblity of IC. So just keep pushing

Thanks for your response, do you have any of the other symptoms that i mentioned? and have you had any back trouble? i sometimes wonder if it could be a nerve from my bulging disk and the dr's just cant see it, or dont know to look for it. Do you get any diagnosis about your issues? :help:
I hope to one day find that we all are pain and symptom free..thanks so much

I am not a doctor, but what comes to my mind by reading your post is the possibility of an inguinal hernia in your pelvis. The bulge or lump you feel could be intestines coming through your abdominal muscles and sometimes a hernia gets strangulated. If that is what it is, it is an emergency.
However, have they ruled out fibroids or ovarian cysts? Have they ruled out scar tissue from previous surgeries or adhesions from previous surgeries? Have they ruled out bowel obstruction? Have they ruled out colitis and colon cancer? Have they ruled out ruptured disks in your back? You had bulging, but they can rupture.

I have went to the gyn since my last post, and she sent for a pelvic ultrasound, that came back normal. I have also seen my dr. who suggested that i go back to physical therapy for my back, i have told her most of the suggested problems from all you guys, thanks so much!!, she is also sending me to a general surgeon to look into a laproscopy, because she did agree that it very well could be adhesions, or endo (my urologist was concerned about endo also) so hopefully i will be on my way to finding my problems..I also weighed 95 ibs! Thats a grand total of 50ibs that i have lost now due to being sick, so its about time for me to get well, thank you all for your help and responses.:smile tee

you've lost 50 lbs in what period of time? If its a short period of time (like 6 months or less) I would be quite alarmed at that rate.
Have you been to an endocrinologist by chance? Perhaps having your thyroid checked as well as checking hormones and diabetes factors should be considered. Thyroid plays a huge role in every cell in your body. Have you been tested for Celiac disease or gluten allergies as well?
I also agree that maybe finding another doctor(s) is in order if you're still having all these issues and concerns. GERD can wreak havoc on a body - just like someone else mentioned. My husband, about 15 years ago, weighed in at 180 lbs, and started dropping weight at an alarming rate. He couldnt eat anything other than chicken and mashed potatoes - and bread. That was it. Very bland diet. He dropped down to 140 lbs in a matter of 3 months. They began testings him for everything - from all cancers to AIDS (THAT was terrifying to say the least) - and although they did test him previously for GERD and it didnt show badly enough to cause the symptoms he was experiencing (per the one "specialist") - another one ordered a specialized test for GERD/acid reflux that was "off the normal path" - and THAT is when they discovered he had severe GERD and the muscles were not developed in his stomach to keep the acid down, and the acid had destroyed them. He was on 120 mg of Prevacid a day ( an ENORMOUS amount ) along with Pepsi syrup daily (otc from the pharmacy, you must ask for it from the pharmacit). He is now on 30 Mg of Prevacid daily after 15 years of changing his entire lifestyle - and he's gained his weight back (and then some :) )
Bottom line is not all doctors are correct in their diagnoses and sometimes they need to know the "new and improved" testing to ensure they are doing the right tests. Only you know your body the best and you shouldnt take "nothing is wrong with you" for the gospel if you know in your heart something isnt right. It sounds as if your doctors are being thorough with their testing, however - you dont sound very confident in what you've posted (meaning the doctors you've seen so far), so just make sure that you are confident in your doctors is all I would recommend.
Hugs and feel better soon, I hope you get some much needed answers as well.
