Hi All,
I just wanted to pass along some info that has helped me.
I was getting what I thought was the "IC" belly daily. My Dr suggested I get checked for Endometriosis as well - they call endo and IC the Evil Twins b/c they are found so often together and have similar symptoms.
I had a laproscopy and they found endo on the outside of my bladder & lasered it off. That was over 2 months ago and I've never had a swollen belly again - not once! It's even helped with frequency a bit.
I highly recommend getting checked for endo - even though they can't cure it either it does seem easier to treat, and maybe it will help with your IC symptoms as well!
All the best,
Vanessa

I have both. The IC is the most recent diagnosis. My GYN calls it "endometriosis' ugly little sister". (He treats a lot of endo.)

Hi there & thanks for the information :) My period pains seem to be getting worse with every one & I am finding quite a few clots - maybe I should ask to be checked??? My sister is in end stage endo bless her & has suffered with painful periods for years!!!
Thanks again for the info

Hi Becky,
I think it's a good idea to get checked - I've had IC for 9 years & never even thought to look for anything else. I remember from the start my family Dr thought it was either IC or endo, and when they found IC we just stopped looking! I'm going to try some IC treatments again as they may not have worked before due to the endo.
All the best!
Vanessa

I had a laparoscopy to rule out endo during my IC dx process. No endo was found, but the surgery was a walk in the park compared to the following cysto/hydro, and I am glad I had the lap done, despite the couple days of missed work and the cost...it definitely helped with peace of mind knowing that at least that part of me was ok.:)

Hi,
I recently had my laparoscopy on 9-26-08, my dr. already knew I had both IC and endo. My endo is Stage 4 and the adhesions had my bladder, intestines, uterus, tubes all stuck together and had endo lesions everywhere and 2 ovarian cysts. My intestines were kinked and actually stuck to my uterus. My bladder was pushed way up because of the scar tissue and my sigmoid colon was also pushed way up in the wrong place. She unstuck everything, but she wasn't able to get my sigmoid colon back down so I am still having trouble with my bowels. I am now on 6 months Lupron shots and Aygestin to put me in menopause to help retard the growth of the endo, since she went in there and cleaned me up. So I know exactly what you are talking about "the evil twins" We will see in time how it does......I had to have my period with the first shot, so I thought I was going to die through that period cause it was still very painful!!!! So just know that you are not alone. And I wish you luck with those "twisted sisters":evilsmile
