Hi Bea:hi:
YES I get migraines. Most of mine do start out as a sinus headache. I go to an ENT who says migraines and sinus problems go hand in hand.
:( I am so sorry you have them because I know how bad they can get. I take an old prescription medicine for it called midrin. None of the new migraine stuff helped me.
Good luck Denise

Denise,

How long do your migranes last.. this one has been going on for 5 weeks now.. I feel like I am going to die.. my husband has taken so many days off of work, cause I can't take care of my son... I even went to the er on sunday..

I really feel for you. I haven't had one in quite some time. Maybe something to do with having my son??
Cause I youst to get them alot. Now I'm not on any meds for them. But if I do get one I have a script for Maxalt.
It knocks mine out pretty quick......but I'm left feeling woozy and sick to my stomach for a bit.
I understand you needing help to care for your son. Any slight sound or light would send me over too...........
I hope the neuro can find a med that's right for you and you can kick this problem to the side...........:kissing:

Hi, I used to suffer a lot with migraines, my mother did, and my daughter does, seems like we passed it on to each other. I was given Imitrex and it really helped me a lot. I do get sinus headaches, but not as frequently as the migraines, and so far the migraines hopefully have disappeared. My doc at the time changed my HRT from pills to a patch and that helped me also with the headaches.Hope you can find something to help you, Iknow how miserable they can be, keep us posted, hugs Iris.:hi:

I have miggraines too and so does my older son. We both take imetrex he has to get the nasal spray for immediate relief I take the pills. I am not sure they always work for me but his seem to control his right away ! Mine are not as frequent or as painful as his either.

I think you may have something going on rather than just a migraine. I have had one to last for 3 days before but that was the longest at one stretch.
I am so sorry you are having to endure that kind of pain. When you went to the ER what did they tell you, could they not give you ANYTHING to ease it off?
What did the neurologist tell you?
:grouphug: sending you my love and prayers. Keep us posted

Thanks for all your replies ladies.. the doc actually have me prednisone for the next 9 days.. to take away the severity, he said that I am having rebound migraines.. continuing from over the counter pain stuff.. advil etc..

he also gave me imipramine.. type of antidepres/.. and said once this is all under control, he will use imitrix on the onset of this..

Yikes! I've had migraines in the past & they stink!! The few headaches I've had since I got IC last summer, I discovered Advil & Tylenol both aggravate my bladder, so I take a hot shower, then put "Migraine Ice" stick on patches on my forehead & nape of my neck (you can get them at the grocery or drugstore), and put a gel icepack over my eyes. Then I climb into bed with an electric blanket & turn out the lights & unplug the phone.

So far, only had full migraine since IC & it was brought on by taking Ultram for the bladder pain. (Yeah, the migraine from the Ultram was so awful, I forgot all about the bladder pain.) Go figure.

Sounds like your headaches need more help from doctor, but maybe my tips will help a bit:)

Bea,
I had the same problem with frequent rebound migraines from frequent use of advil that I took for sinus headaches. Now when the sinus headache starts, I use a nasal sparay to moisten my sinuses, and then I lay down with a cool pack on the back of my neck and take a little nap. Works better than the advil and I don't get the rebound headache. I also get cyclic migraines every 10 years (I'm 35) and have to take an antidepressant for 6 months and then they stop. It is good you are seeing a neurologist for your headaches. They are so knowledgable and can help you find relief. But hang in there, it is never as fast as you want it to be. But it will get better.

Gentle hugs,

yes i get them too i had to go back to bed earlier today my head was bonding so badly and i started getting sick. i get them offen and i do agree they have something to do with my sinus because normally that is where they start from.
:( all i can do is try to hold something down for pain and go to sleep.:(

I also get migraines. Funny though I never had a problem with migraine headaches until my IC started. I have always thought they run hand in hand. Anywho mine can last up to a week or longer. There have been times when I have gotten a shot it would not last and I would have to go back. I also take amerge if I can catch it fast enough. Also stress brings mine on also. Best of luck. I have never been prescribed steroids for them before. Also I can go months with out having one then bang they bother me for months on end.:hi:

it is a shame on how many of us have these migranes.. they are a killer....

I think the prednisone is working.. I will be off of it in 7 more days..

The anti depress.. Imipramine... well I don't know.. I am afriaid to gain weight on it you know

so I am considering neurontin, but heard horrible things about that too...

whats a women to do..

Don't you all think Ic is enough .... then there we go getting stupid things like migraines... IBS... lactose intollerence.. etc..etc.. hmmmm:rolleyes:

Hi Kadi, interesting reading your post re Ultram giving you a migraine, I also take Ultram for pain, but so far no headache, interesting how we all are so different with the meds. It must have been rough, pain at both ends of the body, hope you are doing better. I hope all you gals with migraines are feeling a little better. I hate those thing, it used to get worse and worse for me, then I would throw up and feel better, I remember as a child putting my head against the bathroom tiles, as they were cool. I now have an icebag when needed, hate sinus headaches as well. Take care gals, hugs Iris.:hi: :grouphug:
