I have a problem where I feel like my bladder is never empty. Even if I just had a 'good flow' a few seconds before. I am taking Elmiron and Amitriptyline. These medicines do help a little bit. I was just wondering if anyone else on here had 'the never empty bladder' feeling.

that feeling is VERY VERY common. you feel like you emptied your bladder, then go to stand up & feel like there is still more only nothing else comes out, so you go sit down & then get the urge again. Yup...welcome to IC. just know you arent alone!

Do you keep getting back up and going to the bathroom or do you just try and ignore it when you go to bed.

...gosh, i got up at least 5 or 6 times last night to go to the bathroom! it can be frustrating, and a lot of the time, i feel like i have never finished going. people hate going to concerts or public functions with me where there is one stall because it takes me forever...usually, though, i try to empty my bladder as best as i can but usually i will end up getting back up to pee some more.

yes this is a very common symptom :(
Are you drinking plenty of water...sometimes that can help with the dribble situation. Bottled distilled or spring water is best for me, tho I seem to do ok w/ reverse osmosis water as well.

That is my biggest problem. I go. Then I stand up and wait a second and try again. It is constant pushing and just a tiny bit comes out. The Dr. did a quick ultrasound and said the bladder was empty after I went. Sounds like my problem is in the urethea. When I get the DSMO treatments, I barely make the 10 minute ride home before I have to run to the bathroom. The Dr. said that is the nature of IC.

This is my main complaint. I found that PT helped a little.
Wishing you well....

I try to ignore it. Easier said than done though isn't it?! I figure no matter how many times I do go, I'm still going to end up feeling like I have to go. I know in reality my bladder is empty so try to give it the best mind over bladder I can muster.

Yes, it's a classical symptom of IC.

I'm the same way. I go to the bathroom just before we leave to go somewhere,we get stalled for 5 minutes and sure enough i have to go again just before we leave and barely anything comes out but if i don't go then my bladder really spasms on the way to where we are going so i end up in a flare.
I plan to maybe go to Rome this may for 6 days and im scared how my bladder and I will handle this trip. What do you all think? Am i crazy to go or is this trip of a lifetime worth it? Sister said to me we can pee all over Rome together. She wants me to go.
I was on elmirol but i didn't feel it was helping so i went off of it So right now im just on imipramin and that helps somewhat and i take 3 preleif before i eat anything and that helps too. any other drugs and treatments just scare me to try.
