Well, how is everyone?
Any one feel like posting a question or
concern?
I have one, does anyone know why
rolaids work so fast when you take them for a flare up? I can't believe how quickly
they can work. Glad to see the Canadian
part up again! Hope everyone is well.

Greetings from Oregon! I hope some day to visit Ontario. I'm doing some genealogy studies and have some family roots there.
I think Tums works about the same as Rolaids to help with a flare.
Warm hugs,

Hi Joanne,
Do you take the rolaides with "no" foods or when you are already in a flare? Sometimes I take baking soda when I am desperate.. I do have Prelief I bought when I was visting home in Que. and nipped over into Vermont.. but I am a little suspicious of it giving me an upset tummy when I take it..
I think I might try the rolaides.. but would like to know when you take them.
Thanks
~~Pam~~

Hi,
For me, when I'm first starting to notice a flare coming on (aching and frequency increased), I try taking them (2 or 3) then waiting to see if it helps. If after half an hour, it comes back, I take 2 more and use my heating pad on my bladder. It continues much like this for the milder attacks until it works. For more intense
flare ups this may not work, it does'nt for me. I have'nt tried the tums, I just use rolaids. I'm sure they do work the same though. I have'nt tried the Prelief, but I live in Canada and it's not available here.
My point (question) is that I don't understand how taking a rolaid/tums works so fast on our bladder? How can it get there so fast? It works, I'm happy for that, but is there some kind of connection to this that would help them better understand how to treat IC?
Have they done this?
Just rambling on....
Take Care, Joanne
Hi Joanne,
That's a great question. I am wondering if anyone has studied the correlation between the two. Hmmm, something to ponder about.
Happy Wednesday

Hi Rhonda,
I've been to North Carolina twice but not to the South, I have a good friend that lives there.
My friend lived in a small town and then moved to a bigger town it was an enlightening experience because I have never been outside of Canada other than when I was 8 years old.
Happy Wednesday

Hi Joanne,
I have just joined the message boards and you are the first person I have sent a message to. Isn't it great to be able to communicate like this?
I have had IC for 16 years now and am anxious to try the Oxtrol patch. It is very hard to get as it is only available in the U.S. at the moment but will be available in Canada early next year. I was wondering if you could do me a big favour and next time you go to your local pharmacy could you ask them if they would accept a prescription from New Zealand? I think they accept U.S. prescriptions but I don't know if they would accept them from other countries. I have tried emailing some Canadian pharmacies but haven't received any replies. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.
Thank you :-)
Julie
