Hi friends, I was wondreing if anyone has a problem with salt? Is it a bladder no-no? I love it and put it on everything. But I also am prone to high blood pressure. I have read that sea salt is better, at least it has lots of minerals in it. Any thoughts or opinions or personal expericences? I love that I can come here to get answers from "those that truly know". :big grin:

If you have a blood pressure problem, you really should cut back on salt. And sea salt is no different than any other salt when it comes to blood pressure control. I salt things lightly when cooking and don't add any at the table.

i agree with donna
I do love my salt tho. i use salt on just about everything i eat.
since you have high blood pressure i would cut back. if i'm not mistaking they use to be something on the market that was called no salt.or almost salt i will have to ask them about the name to be sure my uncle and aunt used it they have high blood pressure also. they don't like it very much but they said it was better then nothing.
sending you hugs and best wishes

Yep, one more person who is going to advise you to reduce your salt intake.:D My husband has high blood pressure and used to salt Pizza. Can you believe that!!! His motto was, "If I can't see it, I need more". It took some time and work but he does not add more salt to most foods any longer and, when he does, he is very careful about the amount. I call it "desalting him". Now, he even tells me that some foods in restaurants are way too salty.

I love salt...I use sea salt..just love those Salt encrusted bagels. And eggs...gotta have salt on them eggs! :D But I try to becareful with consumption...for health reasons...even tho my bloodpressure is really healthy.

I worry about retaining water too....but maybe that's good for an ICer (???) especially those of us who don't drink too much as it is. Gotta reatin what liquid we've got...

I definitely avoid salt, as it makes me rather thirsty. Then I drink more water. In the middle of the night, my body decides there's too much fluid around & I'm up a lot. No way is salty food worth the disruption to my sleep.
