Sandyrn is out of surgery. I posted on her OMG surgery and I thought it might be better to start a new thread, the other is so long. Tom called this morning at approx. 7:35 my time and she was in the recovery room. The surgery went well without complications and he will call back in a bit with the details as to how she is and what room she will be in etc. Thank God she is over the surgery and now we just have to focus on praying that all else goes well. I emptied my pm box , so if anyone wants to know her number please pm me and I will give it to you. I will check back here and post everything I hear. Have a great day and Be Blessed.

Hey girls,

I just heard from Tom again and she just got in a room and he was going to the car to get her some pillows to try to keep her comfortable. He is so good to her. He said that she had been in a lot of pain and that her bladder is in bad spasms. They are still trying to get her confortable. I had so hoped that she would not be in so much pain,. but he said they are working on it now. I know she is exhausted, but hopefully she will be much better when she can settle down and rest some. She has worried so long and tried so hard to get everything in order. I wish we could all be closer that we are in times like these. Anyhow, that is the latest and I will check back in a little while to see how she is doing. I am going to lay low for a while and wait until I call back to check on her. If I hear anything else I will let u all know. If anyone else hears anything please let us know also if you have any updates. Thanks and lots of hugs to all that has been here for her.

Glad to hear it is over for her! Hope that she has a smooth and uneventful recovery and that they are able to keep her pain under control. Thanks so much for posting to let us know. She is very lucky to have so many people who care about her and to have Tom there to take care of her in the hospital and when she gets home. I know she really appreciates him and the others who are there for her.

I hope they start her on hormones right away and that the first one they try for her will relieve all the menopause symptoms. Please let her know that I am thinking of her too and wishing her well.

Just called the hospital and spoke with Sandy. She has been crying all day. It has been hard on her , but Tom is with her and right by her side. He was asking for her some juice when I called. That is sooo sweet. She is going to be better tomorrow, I know but right now she is still having the spasms coming and going. At least they are not constant. Sandy , when you get out, and read all these post, you will know that you are loved and that we care about you so very much. Prayers are still coming. I did tell her to make sure that they started her on a hormone quickly. All of us hystersisters know that is crutial.

Ohhh, ouch, bladder/urethral spasms are the worst. I hope those continue to subside. So nice she has her TOm w/ her during this rough time.

Sandy marie

Thanks for all the updates. Hopefully, her bladder will be settled down by tomorrow or lessened. Today with them retracting and pushing the bladder out of the way to get to the uterus. I know why she is hurting. I hope she is getting some b-o's she was going to ask for.

I just spoke to sandy about an hour ago . She is waking up more and is sorta getting tired of the hospital bed. Still has the pain pump and in a good bit of pain. I reminded her to get the hormones on quickly and she is going to ask the doctor in a bit when he comes in this afternoon. She is missing everyone now and wants to move around more, but she still has all of the iv and caths. in so hopefullly tomorrow will be a lot , lot , better. I have her number to her room if you need it. Just let me know. She is getting antsey . I think , so to speak. She said tell everyone Hi for her. So Hey. LOL Pm me if you would like the room number. I hope I covered everything. Just thought I would let all of you know.

Thank you so much for the updates. I know pain control was one of her biggest concerns for post-surgery. I hope they continue working hard to keep her as comfortable and as pain-free as possible. I know she was feeling good about the staff and their willingness to really treat her pain.

Well, I heard from Sandy last night about 10.00 my time central. She was very lonesome. She has not had a lot of sleep due to the pain and discomfort, and was very teary, Her epidural came out , but they are continuning to put the pain meds thru the iv. For you nurses, u can understand more than I can. She is getting up to go to the bathroom, so that means she is very determined. good thing, I will talk to her later on today and give another update. If anyone else hears from her, please post it also. Have a good day and be Blessed,

sandymarie:)

I talked to sandy a few moments ago.

She is getting to go home today and sounds excited about that. She's not liking the hospital bed too much, those beds aren't too comfy!

I am glad that she is in better spirits though:)

She said shes still in pain, but being at home will be better.

I'm sure she will be super happy to know everyone was thinkin about her.

Get well sandy!!!

Yay for going home. Even with some pain lingering it feels better to be in your own home surrounded by your own comforts.

So many people thinking of you, Sandy!!! :kissing:

I actually liked the hosptial beds. Could raise the feet and the head and it made a nice little cradel that took the pressure off and some pain. Glad to hear she will be going home. :woohoo: She will have someone there to help her out?

I'm home, very weak, very tired and still having bladder spasms. There were some VERY rough spots through this stay and I will write more out tomorrow. I didn't have to come home today, but after a uro consult with my uro about my spasms I felt I would much rather be here. He wrote for prosed.....better than nothing, anything , just anything to take these spasms away for a while would make me happy.

I'll write a detailed post...some of it is VERY ugly...the post op pain in the Recovery Room was CRAZY.....the sessions of hour, hour and a half long bladder spasms that had me literally insane, and poor Tom not knowing what to do or the nurse either. For the nmost part the nurses were great.

It's good to be home, be with my dogs and cats, and my kids came down from their fathers to see me....when I fell asleep while talking to them they decided to run up to their dads!! I got to take a nap in my own wonderful bed with my aussie next to me. SHE REALLY MISSED HER MOMMY!

Thanks you so much everyone....you are all so kind..Thanks for the calls too, they perked me up so very much.

Off to eat a real dinner for a change...hospital food is , um, eh for lack of a better word!

Hugs, Sandy
and thankyou sandymarie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to have you back Sandy. I have never had a surgery of any kind, so can't begin to imagine what it is like. Your Tom sounds like a real 'keeper' though, and I'm sure that helped having him at your side during this time.

Rest up and wishing you a speedy, uneventful recovery!

Glad to see you back, Sandy! I had mine several years ago and remember how rough it was! The resulting IC flare was the worst part for me. Hopefully, the worst is behind you now and you will have a speedy recovery!

I hope your Dr. put you on HRT right away to minimize menopausal symptoms. (I know there are some Drs. that wait a few weeks to start HRT. :loco: Not sure what the rationale is behind them waiting, but hope yours didnt make you wait!)

Make sure you take it easy and let others take care of you right now. Hope you feel better and better with each passing day! Great to have you back!

Glad you are at home. I figured that for sure you wanted to go home and recover yourself. I am sorry about the pacu experience. I can tell you I was called the queen of narcotics in pacu by the anesthesiologist. I was heavy on giving them as safely as I could......... this I attribute to my many times of being on the other side of the cart and in pain. A lot and I we all already know it but ALOT of RN"S don't know what ic even is. My pacu friends only do from me. I had one RN recovery friend with kidney stones. She said she would just lie down and have to get right back up to pee. She said if this is anything like your disease I don't know how you do it. She understands now what my nights are like and she can't believe I made it to work every am for 20 years till the end when I progressed down pretty fast. Vicky

Rest. Use your b-o's for sure for me post op they were better then pca ms.

Take care. Glad you are at home. I knew you wanted to go home and take care of things yourself and I can't blame you one bit at all. I would have done the same thing. You have all your own meds at home to take and you are allowed to take them without the nurses saying we can't do that. Vicky

It is great to be back in the comfort of your own home I bet. It sounds like Tom is a real blessing. Know we are all here for you, to listen and offer support. I hope the bleeding and pain eases up. Much love~Heather
