I have the opportunity to do a trial of oral Cytotec.
I have read many of your posts - thank you, very helpful - and would like to know how those of you taking Cytotec are doing?
I have been through so many treatments that have NOT helped and am just trying to find something to give me relief ... and hope.
Do you have any suggestions or advice for someone thinking of trying Cytotec?
I am past child-bearing age so that is not an issue anymore.
My main problem is pain 24/7 -along with usual urgency/frequency - hot lava in bladder, knives in urethra

HAVE ALREADY TRIED
Instillations -- DMSO / heparin instills have not helped.
On Elmiron for over a year
Physical therapy and relaxation
Tried pudendal nerve block - no help
On pain medication, the only thing that helps pain

thank you!
Sharon

Hello Sharon.... I am a Sharon too:)....

Please give Cystotec a try....I have been on it over a month now(about 1 1/2 months)and I have noticed a huge diffference with my IC since I have been on it.....I just stopped taking Elmiron because of the hair loss....I had the DMSO treatments as well...Had the Hydrodistension as well....the only thing that has really made a difference is the Cystotec....I no longer have that constant feeling of frequency and urgency...I have no pain....I still do follow the IC diet, but do allow myself to some things that I would not have been able to eat before....I do not take Prelief any longer as well....

Side effects which I think I listed on the other thread that I have noticed from taking the Cystotec are: Diarrhea and the sensation of feeling hungry....

The dosage I take is: Cystotec 200mg(2-100mg capsules)twice a day...with bkfast and supper....

Hope this helps you...

Bless, Sharon

Sharon to Sharon, :)
Thank you! I will share this with my primary dr tomorrow. She said she would subscribe it if she knew what dosage.
I read that some people started with lower dosages and built up. Did you do that?
Thanks again SO SOOOOO much. I am grateful to hear that it is helping you.
Sharon

Hi Sharon:)

Actually I started with one capsule(100mg) four times a day...I didn`t like taking it four times a day and my urologist told me I could play with the dosage since I am a nurse...so after about a day or two, I switched to the 200mg twice a day...

I wish you the best Sharon and please let me know if it works for you...

Bless, Sharon:)
