I think it is safe to say I am in remission.:woohoo: I hope I am not jinxing it.
I went off my meds in March and although it has not been long, I have only had one flare that lasted a day and a half, and that was due to my eating hot sasauge. My husband cooks it so good, and I just could not help myself. Other than that I have had no issues. Also I will have to say my IBS seems to be doing better as well. Although it just may be the increased fiber intake. We even recently did a full body detox and it never even bothered me. All it was though was fiber,a laxative formula, and milk thistle. Still I was scared of how I would react to it, but we want a baby and I wanted to be sure all my previous meds were totally out of my system.
I drink organic milk, Yerba Mate mint flavored teas, sometimes chammomile, and lots of water. On the rare occasion I will have root beer or cream soda but only 8oz no more. I cannot drink any kind of coffee or regular teas, I don't know why the caffeine in yerba mate does not bother me, and other caffeines do. From the study I read, all I can gather is...from this link to below. (Note: not a link to purchase from and I am not saying it is good for all ICers I am just saying what works for me) maybe it is just w/out all the additives or because of the area it is grown I do not know for sure.

I eat Activia yogurts, Kraft Liveactive bars, Wheat cerals, a LOT of dried fruit like bananas and blueberries and Bilberries, I eat organic food as much as possible, non-yeast breads, and if we have spaghetti (usually once a week) I use Bertolli brand sauce which I find is better for IC and has a better taste. I get meat that is 93% less fat so there is no grease to drain at all, I find very greasy meats bother me. We eat tacos once a week and I never have any issues. I do not eat the onions though, but the mild sauce is organic and doesn't bother me. I also eat homemade no-bake oatmeal cookies w/ cocoa for sweets and they do not bother me either, I am unsure if it is dark or just plain chocolate but they are good. If I have mayo, honey mustard, or ketchup it is less than a teaspoon which is enough for me anyway. We seldom go out (hard to w/ kids) but when we do I have very little A1 sauce (very little) and never eat lemons. I only refuse to eat lemons because of the research showing e-coli from restaraunt lemons due to staff not using gloves and such eewww! But I can eat the lemon juice on Flounder if I want to and it does not seem to bother me THANK GOD!
MMMmm now I want Flounder :)
I am nervous though, because we are TTC and I am afraid if I get pregnant or have a baby how it will be then. My most painful symptoms never even showed up until I delivered my youngest and even before then the only one I had was just constant urge to pee. My uro said I had the worst case he had ever seen and he did not know how I had gone so long. He said the trauma of delivering was what brought on the other AWEFUL signs.
I may have this deleted but I do not care!
I do have to take this time to say I thank God because I owe my remission to Him. His word says He will not put on us more than we can handle (although I don't know where)and I am not able to tolerate too much pain, and I live to be a good mother and that is so hard to do when I hurt. I trusted Him to be the physician for me that He was in the past and He is unchanging so it was a HUGE leap of faith to stop ALL my meds and rely on Him. I do believe everything we need for pain He has created here for us and because of that when I need something I look into what organic stuff is available. I am sure there are cures for this if we search. After all in my opinion (MINE) IC is due to the lifestyle of eating and drinking unhealthy manmade things that are already not good, and had I been doing what I should've from the beginning I probably would not have gotten it, and w/out being diagnosed I would still be eating and drinking unhealthy things that are not good for me. The Word says our bodies are temples and we are to treat them as so.
1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
