I was diagnosed with IC March 07, and I have still haven't had any relief. My new urologist has started me on vaginal valium suppositories. He hopes these will calm my muscles. Does anyone have any information or has used valium in this manner? If anyone knows anything about this treatment please let me know. I also take valium orally.
Thanks for being here. I wish I knew about this forum earlier.

I just started 2mg of Valium vaginally and I think it helps. I don't feel like I am having spasms. I wish I also took it orally!

I think you will like it. It seems to be working for me.

Thanks, I hope it helps me too. I have severe depression and take Cymbalta and Wellbutrin SR and with the addition of valium I'm concerned with being a total zombie.

Demagee55,
I have used it both ways. Valium that is compounded as a suppository and used the actual tablet form which I inserted into my vagina. I would crush it up and mix it with lidocaine and use a syringe to squirt it up inside me. Honestly I didn't see much difference. They both helped with the spasms, but the valium supp were alot more money involved. With both, I had to lie on my back to allow the meds to start working because they both slide out easily.

I have been using the tablet form and breaking it up for a number of years. Plus I also take one orally and had great success at night. Not a single spasm or need for a 2nd void. But remember the trick is to make sure you lie on your back for between an hour to an hour. I use that time to read and watch tv.

Since I received the same benefit, I figured $60.00 to $90.00 was way too high for something that a prescription that cost $5.00 generic for 60 pills did the same thing. I have taken it for so many years at 10 mgs vaginally and 10 orally, that I have no side effects whatsoever. I can function completely normally even if I have taken the pill later on at night that I planned to. You body does get used to it, but the benefits still stay the same (for me at least).

Hugs, Tracey.

Does anyone find that oral valium helps to relax the bladder and urethral contractions? My sister says it helps her, and I seem to remember it helping me the last time I had a flare up, which was 17 years ago. Thanks Krisssy

I take valium suppositories for my PFD. I take it after PT and after sex. It helps me immensely.

i just started the oral med yesterday and i can finaly pee without waiting 5 min and only getting a trickle. He said it would relax the muscles and it seems to work great.

crazy story...i got my meds filled at the pharmacy, came home to put in my weekly pill box and realized i was short 6 pills. Called the pharmacy and they told me to bring in the pill bottle and they would profile my account so that my pills would be counted 3 times before filling! I was so upset. Shouldn't they have counted them before they gave them to me? YES! now i feel like they think i am lying. fortunately my husband counted them too. I also told them i have been getting pain pills for over a year and i never claimed to be shorted before.

here again, everyone thinks we are drug seekers. I would like to know who put them in thier pocket at the pharmacy.
