View Full Version : Frustrated shopping for pants!

I need a new pair of "nice" pants to wear this winter --- and some new jeans. I did go shopping over the weekend and all I could find was what I call "butt cut" --- with the "waist" four or more inches below my natural waist, and boot cut, which emphasizes my hips! The butt cut makes me have two spare tires instead of the one I have. I don't mind something just below the waist, but I'm a little old for the double tire effect that seems to be popular this year. I did finally find one pair of jeans, but that's all.

Tell me about it! Finding jeans is an all day affair. I finally found a pair of stretchy jeans at Kohls that I love. They fit right below my waist and are pretty comfy. They are "Lee midrise boot cut, lower on the waist" I may have to get another pair. Not sure how great they look on me, but I do like the comfort. With IC, I look for comfort first, how they look 2nd. :smile tee

Robin, the pair I bought are Lee "at the waist" ones. They hit just below the waist --- and I bought them at Kohls!

Donna, I have found the Chic brand has jeans with the elastic waist. They look just like reg jeans except for the waist and are very comfy. They also have them in capris and shorts. And they are NOT Butt Cut< LMAO!!
Wal-Mart has them...

Here is a pict of them:

Kohls is one of my favorite stores. No matter when I go there, I can always find several things to buy. It is scary though...Scary for my budget and credit card. :lmao:

I like the Chic brand, also. My only problem is my flat behind. To fit my waist and give me room so my bladder is not being squeezed, I have to buy a size that has way too much room in the rear. I can't stand baggy rear pants. Curses...Foiled again. :lmao: That is why I like the Faded Glory Stretch pants at Wal Mart.

Donna,I totally hear your frustration. I cant stand those hip-hugger pants. I actually have started wearing dresses and longer skirts because I feel more comfortable in them. Though now that winter is here, I am wondering what I will do as it may be too cold here for skirts. I also like Kohl's. They have the jockey underwear there that are real comfortable. I get the jockey elance undies, they are the only undies that I find are confortable to do not shrink 3 sizes after I wash them.
I see all the teenage girls my son hangs out with and they all wear those hip hugger jeans or apple bottom jeans( I never heard of these until my hubby told me about them, he is a teacher and knows all about what is in and what is out from the kids:) . It is the thing that is in right now for the teenagers. It wont last though, before you know it bell bottoms will back in style:) It seems that fashions keep repeating as the years go by.

i'm young and wear the "butt cutt jeans" LOL but my mom used to shop at JC Penny, and i used to work there in the women's section. They always had really great jeans, maybe the same as kohls. But it's worth checking out!!!

This is me too. I've just spent a few days (Friday and today) trying to shop for new clothes. It's exhausting! I'm not a fan of those kinds of pants either but it's hard to find anything else. And since we're complaining about shopping :smile tee I also can't stand how most of the shirts are short. When I reach up to grab something out of the cupboard my tummy (which has gone through 3 pregnancies, one of them with twins-it's NOT pretty:tsk:) shows. If I find longer shirts, then I look pregnant .

I hear you! -What a shopping nightmare it can be! I have to wonder who they're designing these pants to fit anyhow? I have never yet found a pair of ladies pants or jeans that 'fit' me!

I've found the men's Levi 501 button fly to be my best option. It's like taking my way-back-machine to the late 60/early 70s. Now if only bell bottoms were back! (And Jerry Garcia!)

I like Kohl's too! The new Lee jeans are great. I do have a problem with "nice" pants also. Not only do things fit differently depending on the day, but I am inbetween shorts and regular length. The shorts are too short (unless I wear flats) and the regular length is just long enough to sometimes be impossible to shorten without making a mess of the pants. Ugh.......

I have become a fan of Spanx (or actually a knock off brand from, you guessed it, Kohls) even though I don't dare wear them more than a couple of hours. But for church or to go out to dinner I am fine.

Yawn........time for bed..........

I have never been to a Kohl's, they dont have them where I live. I used to like the "Tried and True Fit pants from JJill, buta couple of years they changed the petit length by making them longer so they they are way too long on me. :cussing: I also need new pants for work as well as jeans, so I am on the search too.

I have the same trouble with pants and jeans. The low rise styles are not a good look when you have IC belly or anything short of a perfectly flat stomach! I will be so glad when this trend is over. I dont know about anyone else, but I am tired of seeing people's cracks everytime they bend over!:loco: Do the people that wear these styles (that are so low their crack shows) ever look in a mirror?

Like many others have posted, I also like Kohls. I am also able to find things at Dillards and Macy's.

Anyone remember the store called Paul Harris? I loved their jeans....actually most of their clothes in general. They ALWAYS had 40% off, plus I was on their mailing list for extra discounts. They carried alot of petite sizrs and since I am so short, I never had any problems finding jeans, plus they carried such a variety of colors, especially pink! Yes, that was a long time ago! LOL! There is nothing worse than trying to hem up pants! I am sure that my family thought I was going to put candles outside their doors when they went out of business. I don't wear jeans very often, not because of the bladder thing, I just have really not like jeans with the exception of the cute colors that Paul Harris had like red, pink or grape, etc. They always had coordinating tops and of course, I had to find shoes to match which was a necessity. Several months ago, one of my co-workers whispered in my ear that I had a hole in my jeans. I went straight to the bathroom and about an inch from the seam, the material had finally given out. That was my last pair of Paul Harris jeans!

The store that find the best clothes for me is Steinmart. They also carry petites. I refuse to try on clothes in the store, which drives anyone that is shopping with me crazy, but I find a brand and know what fits. Also JC Penny has cordoroys (spelling) that I have a range of colors in. LIke someone posted, styles certainly come around and it appears that the cords are back to swishing again! I have also found a couple pair in the Chadwicks magazine that fit me well.

Now that it is cooling off, I guess I will have to bring the jeans back out since we can wear them at work on Thursdays and Fridays. Thursdays we have to pay a small amount which goes to a charity. All summer, I have paid the small price to be able to wear some of my cute tennis shoes. I guess that will be one of my things to add to my "to do list" this weekend is go through my jeans to figure out what fits. I mainly stick to skirts and capris, which is why I love the summer so much. I can practically feel like I am wearing my pjs to work because they have a stretch band or the kind that have a cord that can be tied to fit just right. They are so light and easy to wear.

I haven't put my cute sandals up yet. We still have a few nice days left, but now that I am thinking about it, I remember buying some cute fall/winter shoes and a "few" other things at the end of last season. So, it will be fun to look to see what things I bought and sent right up to the attic. When hubby says where did you get that? Oh, I bought that last year! LOL!

Kohls is my hubby's fav store. It's too aggravating to try to find what I am looking for with the exception of their matching earring and necklace sets and of course shoes!

Steinmart sent me yet another special customer coupon, I may have to drop by there to see if anything begs me to go home with me.

I always have to hem pants. A friend suggested I try "tall" pants so I think I'll give that a try next. I did buy two new shirts I found on sale. We're planning to visit the coast next month so I'll hit the factory outlet stores there and maybe find some fall things.
