I have been working for the past 4 years at a good company, but lately I am finding it harder and harder to get through the day. I am taking a lot of meds and sometimes the pain meds and antihistamines make me so goofy. I am so exhausted.

Can I apply for SSD while I am working, or do I have to quit my job in order to apply?

I'm not sure what to do. I hate to leave my job, but I don't want to be fired for poor performance when it really isn't my fault. Its my faulty bladders fault.

Any advice? Also - I am in Texas if anyone has any local tips. Thank you

My advice apply if your company is elgible by amount of employees employed . Also, you must have worked 1250 hours in one year but see if you qualify for family medical leave act. YOur HR dept knows the drill and paperwork. You can also google and read about it FAQ's. You if you qualify can call in and use intermittent fmla day and not take the absence or say it is a medical excused absence. I would check into that > You can also get fmla for longer if you think you need a rest 1-2weeks for example. Your MD or uro would sign these forms. Check it out.

I have no idea if you can work and file for SS. Go to sss.gov and read their home page. I do know I was told by SS that I had to be off work 5 months then after that 5 month starts my disability month. They ask you on SS form if you are still working and also last day of work. Not sure go to their web site read their FAQ site. They also have phone number you can call and ask.
Iknow after you win SS you can only work so much and make so much money that is limited monthly that I know it was 920 gross a month.
