I am needing some help here I have had IC for 4 years now and so far have managed to keep it fairly under control with diet and have tried numerious medications, some that worked others that worked for a very short time. 3 weeks ago I ended up in the dr office because I just didnt feel right. After they ran tests they found that I had a severe UTI; this was 3 weeks ago and I have yet to fell what I would consider normal, I got the azo home test strips and it shows that there is still blood in my urine. I am so tired of this and really would like some help on what to do next one of my dr's said there wasnt to much he could really do for me, Also the pain is different than any other flair I have had before it goes all the way around to my back to the middle of my spine from rib to hip; does anyone else have that problem? Please let me know any suggestions I am out of ideas and cant get to see my uro yet we are waiting on our insurance to kick back in and with school starting back up the funds just arent there. thanks in advance.:help:

Infection or IC? So hard to know. I am going through this right now. I think I was not on the antibiotic long enough the first time or second time - now third time through things are better. The doctor said that sometimes after an infection it can take as long as a month before symptoms dissipate - there is still inflammation. I do not usually get pain but this time I did (suprapubic pain that radiated into my sacrum). Maybe your doctor would do another culture to make sure you don't have a lingering infection (or even a new one.)
I was on Cipro (extended release) first two times but that dosage is for people with uncomplicated infections. Now I am on regular Cipro (twice a day for 7 -10 days). When you have IC it is never simple! Good luck. Ratchada
