Hi all,
I went for my checkup etc before getting cataract operation in a few weeks. I am on Bactrim DS and it bothers the IC but I can live with it as I haven't found other antibiotics to be much better. Any antibiotics people take that don't cause flares? The worst for me is Macrobid, I have it listed as an allerge. I know everyone is different. The doctor mentioned some newer ones that came out but my insurance won't cover it and I didn't want to take any chances with an infection getting worse. I think what they use is something called a "broad spectrum" antibiotic for bladder infections. I'm not a doctor but I will be sure glad at the end of the week when I finish taking them. I've had bad experiences of infections coming back when I switched to another kind midway.
All help appreciated
Warmly,
Sproutbid:hi:

HI songbird its nice to see you posting again.
the anti i do well on with no side effects is Leviquin either the 250 mg or the 500 mg.
I hope this seen to help you. I have tried others and for some reason my body has some type of reaction to most meds but Leviquin has been my ace in the whole so to speak.
i can also take macobid (sp?) it will help but i can only take it for about a week before my bladder acts up and the doctor always wants me to do a 14 day of macobid. Leviquin he always has me on it for at least ten days because my uti's are so hard to get rid of.
Good Luck and let us know how you are doing.
sending you hugs and prayers

Hi, Rhonda and all,
Good to hear from you. I might ask my doctor about the leviquin. I don't know what the insurance company will pay for. I'm not sure the leviquin wouldn't act up with me because you said you can take macrobid. To top it all off the downstairs neighbor with a stereo is having people over. It's too early to say anything. They are very good about playing music earlier rather than later.
Warmly,

Songbird I might have some news for you that will help you.
Most doctor offices carry samples of leviquin even tho i have inc that pays for my medicine they still give me a weeks wroth of leviquin if i had to pay for it out of the pocket it is 10.00 a pill here in south carolina.
both my family doctor and uro has samples of leviquin in there office most of the time they will give me the 500 mg to half up and when i go in they are always handing me samples that i keep for back up in case of an infection.
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda
