Today was heparin day and I decided to ask the nurse to let the Doc do the instill and she said fine. I also asked her if I hurt her fealings and she said no. Told her the heparin wasn't helping anymore. I was sitting waiting for them to come in and she came in saying she was going to do the lidocaine and told her no (nicely) I wanted him to do it all. I know she didn't like that. He did it and no more cath pain or anything. I didn't even feel the cath go in. Afterwards I after I got dressed he came back in and I asked him if he wouldn't mind going back to doing it all again. He said no. Then I told him how I didn't have the extra pain when he did and how I didn't even feel the cath today. He asked me if I had been having pain all the times when so and so's (All the different nurse's names) did it and I told him yes. He was happy about doing it again so I should have sort of put my foot down with the nurse that left and said for him to do it. Went for groceries afterwards and had no problems holding or extra pain where I had to lean on the cart to walk. Then when I got home I peed my brains out. Literally, ha I peed for 5 minutes and then decided to just hold it but glad I did ask.

You were right to ask for him to do it if you were having pain every time the nurse did it. Good for you. These are times when you cannot worry about whose feelings are getting hurt. You were the one in pain, so you have that right. Just remember, if the shoe were on the other foot, what do you think she would have done?
