Im officially going off the birth control next week. Ive been on the Nuva ring for years, and I love it. My periods are so light, they are practically nothing.
Im nervous because, Ive been on BC for years, including before my IC diagnosis two years ago. I have no idea how my body is going to react to having normal periods. Has anyone ever been on BC before their IC diagnosis then go off it? Right now, my periods dont affect my IC. I just hope that it still doesnt.

I was on Loestrin. When I stopped this Spring, my first month I didn't have a period, the second was only like a week, which I was surprised, I thought it would be longer, since I had no periods w/ bc at all. If I did it was just spotting for one day. But that was rare. I loved it. :smile tee
We have been trying since then and still have not conceived. I don't know if we are having a hard time bcuz of the Elmiron, our ages now, or if it was the bc. My Dr said being on bc sometimes will make it harder to conceive after stopping. With our first two we had NO issues at all. But I had never stayed on bc for more than 5 months before that. I also had cyst issues and everything else. I think the Loestrin actually helped that bcuz I have not had any cramps and stuff like I used to prior to this month. But my issue this month, is I actually had a "chemical pregnancy" aka early miscarriage (depending on the DR) What happened was I was a week late all excited thinking I was, w/ a pos. test and all and then I started w/ really bad cramps and huge clots. Still showing a pos. test. Dr said the embryo did not fully implant and so therefore was not developing and my body rejected it. I am a bit sad, but I guess it is just not the Lord's Will yet. Anyway, other than that I haven't had any issues w/ stopping the bc. My periods are actually not too bad and only last 5 days or less. Before ever taking bc they used to last about 2 weeks or longer no lie! Like I said I had really bad cramps and cyst issues too. I actually had to have surgery twice before I was 20 w/ blood transfusions bcuz of a cyst rupture and it causing a blood vessel rupture and I lost so much blood.
Anyway, good luck and I think you will be fine, but I am not too familiar w/ your type of bc but I am guessing you will be fine. Birth Control has come a long way since it was first invented.

Kim,
I'm so excited for you! My husband and I will be TTC about a year from now, and I'm sure I will have the same concerns then as you do now. Best of luck to you and your husband!

Thanks everyone for your support.
I dont think we are going to TTC right away. A few reasons. One, I want to see how my body is going to react to not having BC. The second, and main reason, is that I am still a temp at my position. Ive not been hired on yet. I dont want to not be hired on because Im pregnant. I also right now dont have any vacation or maternity rights. Im insured thru my hubby righ now, so thats good. But if and when I get hired on at this place, I will have insurance and I wont have to pay anything weekly out of my check. I was initially told I would be hired on after 90 days. Well, that day has come and went. Right now, I dont know when Ill be hired. Its frustrating. I just want to be hired so I can plan my life.
