Has anyone here experienced wearing tight jeans or any pants that hit the croch area that resulted in triggering IC symptoms?

Definitely. I always have to wear clothing that is a bit on the loose side, and I can never wear belts unless they're really high up! Anything pressing on the crotch area or lower abdomen is almost guaranteed to flare me. :(

Thanks Kuni Bob...It was just something I noticed when I wore jeans that were a little snug...

I find that jeans are the worst for me, so I definitely understand where you're coming from!

I have one pair that is perfect for IC -- no big lumpy seam in the crotch, and it's fairly elastic material, so there's a lot less pressure all around, but they still look stylish. I got them for $20 at some teen outlet store and will wear them threadbare! IC-friendly jeans are a wonderful, rare find for those of us who can't wear 'em!

Kuni-Bob - please tell the brand name of your wonderful jeans! I love the look of a nice, trim pair of jeans but I just can't wear them anymore. Too uncomfortable!
Any other suggestions for comfy, IC safe, but cute jeans.
Thanks.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I actually still wear a pair of maternity jeans from when I had my son.(He is one now)! They are comfy and stylish and no one really knows they are maternity because today they make them that way. Just an idea. Other than those I have a pair from Target that I bought for $20.00 from Lee jeans. They look boot cut and I sometimes also get a size bigger so my IC belly has room to breathe. I do have a pair from the Gap that are stretch jeans that I also am fine with but those were $60.00. Can you tell I like to wear jeans too!!LOL! Good luck and lots of jean days to you>:)

You would think that after dealing with this condition for a year, I would remember all the rules/no-no's, but I still forget or have a lapse in memory. I wore some rather tight capri's yesterday and today I feel lousy. At first I was going through all that I did or ate yesterday trying to come up with a reason for the way I feel today. Then I came on here and saw this post. Now, I think that is probably the reason I am having bladder pressure and that icky feeling in my vaginal area. This site is always good for an answer.
Thanks everyone.

Yep, I don't get away with anything tight either :cussing: I always loved my tight jeans & thongs...............BIG no no now :cussing: baggy trousers or jogging bottoms with nickers you know you're wearing, but hay, things could be worse ay! I haven't even attempted anything even slightly tight since being diagnosed in May. I have a constant burning in my Vulva area so wouldn't dare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope we're all having a happy bladder day :)
Big healing hugs

I live in jeans. I love the ones that I get at Wal Mart. They are made by Faded Glory. Very stretchy, very comfortable and very affordable. They do not even have a waist band. Besides the reasons I have already stated, I love them because they hug my behind (I have a flat behind so most slacks that fit me are baggy there) and the legs are not baggy at all. They have blue ones, black ones, beige ones, brown ones, boot cut ones, slim cut ones, and even cords. No...I don't sell or work for Wal Mart...I just love those jeans. :D

I can definately feel your pain (no pun intended) - I have one pair of Gloria Vanderbilt stretch jeans that I could not live without - other than that - I wear loose trousers to work and only really bad days - I'll wear stretch pants (cotten pants).

I buy the GAP stretch jeans in an outlet store by my house and they are about 30 dollars a pair and I always watch for sales on them. I were scrubs at work so I don't have to worry about tight clothes, its more like wearing pajamas all day. HAHA! I am having a horrible time with tampons right now and i am so raw these days. Does anyone else have trouble with tampons cause I hate pads but i am really hurting.

I have several pairs of designer jeans just sitting in my closet and it's one of the things that makes me most sad. I sold a pair of my Sevens the other day and I kept some of my Citizens for Humanity jeans. I just cannot accept the fact that I can never wear them again!!

I can't wear tight jeans at all.:headbang: They send me into a flare within a couple of hours. I have to have a strrech waist band. This is again one of the many things IC does to diminish the quality of our lives. Maybe some day the will find a cure for this awful disease so we can all lead better lives.

:loco: This sure is a tough one ay ladies  I know when I was diagnosed in May I struggled so much with just how much this awful disease affects each & every one of us  I can no longer eat what I want, drink what I want, wear what I want or have "fun with my partner" when I want. It has put such restrictions on what was once a care free life & it's hard! I cried every day for at least four months. Once I started getting the pain a little under control I began to put things a little more in perspective. I am grateful that although I suffer with pain everyday we are still here & this disease has not disfigered me, nor has it taken my sight, my smell, my touch or my loving :) Skirts can look just as good & it's suprising just how many men like to see a woman looking like a women in a skirt or a dress :smile tee

I also really hate wearing pads, they most definatley make the Vulvodynia alot worse for me  I have always struggled to use tampax or tampons as my cervix sits very heavily to one side. I do however now use the "mini" tampax that young ladies experiment with when they first start there periods :) They are a lot smaller than regular Tampax & I do have to change a lot more often, but it sure has helped me to avoid wearing a pad through the whole of my period! Might be worth giving it a go??? Hope this helps you :)
Big healing hugs to you all

Wow. I didn't realize that tight clothes, jeans in particular, could cause discomfort or even flares. That explains how I've been feeling this week. It's been that time of the month so pretty much all my jeans/shorts are snug and I've been feeling pretty crappy. Not a full flare, just uncomfortable. I guess I'll have to get some skirts or cotton shorts to wear during that one week a month.

Yep, tight pants are a killer for me, too.

Question: Has anyone found that they've been able to resume wearing tight clothing after having success with meds (not necessarily remission)?

I am hoping someone can answer this positively as well. Like I said. . . I'm saving my jeans with high hopes!
