I was looking through some food options and saw Carob? I see it is used as a chocolate substitute...I think. Does it taste good? I have never heard of it before and am considering using it and making some of the recipes I have found.

While its a substitute for chocolate, dont think its going to taste exactly like chocolate--it doesnt. If you go into the taste test with an open mind it'll be a lot easier to accept.
I was introduced to it as a child--I never got used to the taste. Fortunately though chocolate doesn't bother me, however if it did, I'd just have to go w/o as carob is not to my liking.

To each his own, I say! I've read on here where people use it and like it--no problem. Hopefully you'll find it satisfies you.

Good luck with it!

Many of us who cannot eat Chocolate find that White Chocolate is a great substitute. Thankfully, I can tolerate both. They just look bad on my hips.

In some recipes, carob is very good. My youngest was allergic to chocolate as a toddler and I made many things for the family with carob and we all liked it. If you haven't had chocolate in a while, it's a good substitute. I used to buy carob candy bars for my son.

I just tried it today actually. I saw a carob almond cup (like a reese cup) at the health food store and thought "why not?"

It was good, a little too sweet for my taste. It doesn't taste like chocolate, but it isn't bad. Just think of it as its own thing and I am sure you may like it as well.
