Hello, this is for IC patients on the forum who take a medication like urised, prosed, etc. Primary doctors are used to pyridium, which turn your urine shades of orange, but many are not familiar with urised or prosed, which turn your urine a lovely shade of blue- or even green if your urine is more concentrated.

The next time you go into your primary doctor's office for a physical and you have to give a urine sample, be sure to take your prosed beforehand. I did this and the result was a lovely shade of green. My doctor came into the room with a funny look on his face, and asked me if I noticed anything odd with my urine sample. I decided to play along and with a straight face told him no. He said it was a weird green color- and that he had never seen that in all his years of practice. I then mentioned that I had eaten some green beans lately, perhaps that was it. He was stumped and you could tell he was really bugged by this.

Finally, I let him in on my joke, and told him the color was the result of a urinary medication called Prosed DS. He had a good laugh at that and was a good sport about my urine humor. He was still laughing as I left that day.

Haha! I had the same experience, except I think the nurse is still confounded. When I went to the ER, my urine came out blue/green from the Prosed DS. The nurse spoke in broken English, and was very concerned. I told her I took a medication that turned it that color. She said she had seen yellow/orange but not green. I explained that it's similar to Pyridium but it's a blue pill. Round and round we went. Her "I've seen Pyridium turn orange but not this color" me "it's not pyridium, it's prosed". Her "strange for pyridium". I finally just gave up.

Works great for drug testing too... LOL! I had to take a pre-employment drug test, and had taken a pyridium in the morning, but had to take a Urised right before the test. Thanks to the pyridium, I was peeing orange. Then the Urised usually turns things kind of violet... so with the two meds together I ended up with an almost black, dark lavender "color". You should have seen the technicians face when I handed him the cup.

Of course, being male, he'd never used either med and wasn't used to colored "samples"... I just smiled and didn't say anything. It did take an extra day to get my results, which of course were fine. I always wondered what the notes in the file might have said...
