Hello, this is for IC patients on the forum who take a medication like urised, prosed, etc. Primary doctors are used to pyridium, which turn your urine shades of orange, but many are not familiar with urised or prosed, which turn your urine a lovely shade of blue- or even green if your urine is more concentrated.
The next time you go into your primary doctor's office for a physical and you have to give a urine sample, be sure to take your prosed beforehand. I did this and the result was a lovely shade of green. My doctor came into the room with a funny look on his face, and asked me if I noticed anything odd with my urine sample. I decided to play along and with a straight face told him no. He said it was a weird green color- and that he had never seen that in all his years of practice. I then mentioned that I had eaten some green beans lately, perhaps that was it. He was stumped and you could tell he was really bugged by this.
Finally, I let him in on my joke, and told him the color was the result of a urinary medication called Prosed DS. He had a good laugh at that and was a good sport about my urine humor. He was still laughing as I left that day.
