stomach/bowel problems-anyone else?

:confused:I have had ic for about 6yrs. For about the last 15 years or so I feel like I have had terrible bowel problems. Now everytime I bring it up to a Doc I feel they just brush me off as "oh, yeah-you just have IBS. I can be fine for months, then out of nowhere, anything that I eat will run right through me. For the life of me cannot pinpoint a food that causes it-I have tried forever.When I have a bowel movement, I will get stomach cramps so bad that I vomit. Sometimes it is right after I eat, sometimes a few hours later-sometimes I don't even make it from the table. I have seen blood or mucus occasionally.And of course, I have all the IC things-IC belly, lower back pain etc. For the past year or so I will get a very sharp stabbing pain at the upper right side of my belly, and the lower left side. My gyno did a lap in Jan because I had had a tumor on my right ovary 2 years ago-had the ovary removed.The gyno found nothing. (Ihave had a hysto) I feel like everyone thinks I am a hypocondriac (sp?). I just really feel like something more is wrong.Anyone have anything similar?

I can tell you upfront that i probably have gone through a lot of digestive issues....you name it i have gone through it.....
One thing you gotta do is get things checked out to make sure your digestive system is all healthy and then you will probably get the diagnosis of 'irritable bowel'
but you have to go get tests done to make sure they can rule out anything else....
i am one who doesn't have food triggers with my irritable bowel (i do have tonnes (and i do mean tonnes) of food intolerances) but when it comes to daily life, it doesn't matter how much or how little fiber i take....it will either go slow as molasses or as fast as a jet plane going mach 3.....:toilet::loco:
but just so you know i have had incontinence issues with my bowels (the last two i had infections so thats something to check out too) and have been plugged up so much i felt i was just going to vomit everything.... :headbang::hmm::dizzy:
but definitely get checked out for sure thoroughly for anything else....

and if you get to the choice of a barium enema or a colonoscopy---get the colonoscopy since that way you will be sedated (i really don't recommend the barium enema----trust me....its good to have a procedure that you get sedated....i unfortunately had to have both....don't recommend that either but yeah go for the sedation....its well worth it for sure...:wink:
i hope it settles out soon....
and also after you know its nothing other than being irritable there are meds you can take or supplements like metamucil or benefiber or a prescription to regulate things and when your have problems of too many bathroom trips there is immodium or prescription antispasmodics too....so there are ways to control it but you gotta see if its something else first before having any other medication or supplement....
