My husband sent me this. It's a Web site to locate public restrooms. Right now it's in NYC, but they are planning to expand.

How great is that - it would be wonderful if it expands beyond NYC.

I recently went to the beach with my mom and was absolutely astounded at the number of stores that we went into that stated no public restrooms - please go to the visitor center (which was always at least 4 blocks away) - no amount of begging or pleading worked. I am determined I'm going to get a restroom access card before I go on another trip - I was so stressed from just knowing that I would have a difficult time finding a restroom.

I will say this - as far as stops along the road - I'm not sure that they are in every state - but there is a convenient store called Sheetz - and they have the cleanest bathrooms I have ever been into. It is absolutely amazing -

Funny - how life changes - when I notice where the cleanest bathrooms are now - huh? :smile tee

Thanks for posting the link.

I don't go anywhere without a Traveljohn in my purse. At the beach, I just wrap a beach towel around me & use the Traveljohn. Problem solved.

It is funny how we know where bathrooms are. Basically, if I've been somewhere, then I know where the bathroom is. Even when I go in somewhere new, the bathroom is the first thing I look for!

Beaches and lakes are tricky for finding bathrooms. I've also found that downtown areas are hard, too. When my husband had a job interview earlier this year in a downtown of a nearby big city, I had a horrible time finding public bathrooms. Fortunately, I found two nice people at different places who were able to help me by using a usually off limits bathroom. I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

My family says I have restroom antenna! I can always find a restroom.

It really does help elevate stress when you know where the bathrooms are located.

Stacey that is great. Couple of years ago my husband and I went to a state fair, and my husband got on the computer to search for the restrooms for me. Still was worry about the distance between the restrooms but when we got there the place also had portable toilets everywhere. It was such a stress relief and I was able to enjoy it. I have to drink water in hot days because if I don't I will hurt, so I keep on sucking on ice too which help a lot.

That is great you are finding things that will help relieve some stress for you so you can enjoy somethings.

I have found that every McDonalds has a restroom. There are usually McDonalds everywhere. Most gas stations by a freeway offramp/onramp have them too. Large sitdown restaurants have them too.

I never go anywhere until I know where the restrooms are.

McDonald's are my favorite bathroom stop! It's nice because they are usually in about the same location no matter if you're at a McDonald's by home or 400 miles away. Plus, we do eat there so at least I know if I don't buy anything every time, I do at least contribute to the golden arches!

My other favorite is Wal-Mart of all places. Our local Wal-Marts have bathrooms at the front and back of the store. I've been in other stores where I was at the back of the store and had to try and make it up to the bathrooms in the front. Sometimes that's difficult (and painful).

The funny thing is that people know I know bathrooms, so my friends and family always ask me where bathrooms are when we're out!

Along this same line, I just wanted to mention that I had a great experience on a vacation recently because we opted to take a cruise rather than our typical (complicated) vacations. We were within 30 ft of a bathroom at all times! Dinner, sunbathing, gambling, comedy shows, it was a huge stress reliever!

I also found this one; http://www.thebathroomdiaries.com/about.htm
You can add to it to help people out.
I love Las Vegas and Reno. In casinos bathrooms are always there! Sometimes you have to look for them, but they are always large and clean, esp in nicer places, they have fancy ones.
I like to pick some slots near the bathroom and be set!

Awesome! That's good to hear about Vegas. I'm leaving Sunday for a week there while my hubby is at a conference. I'm not planning to gamble, but I am planning to see all the different cool hotels. Knowing that bathrooms should be easy to find is great! :)

you know before ic i never had to pee. i could go on an all day car trip and go once. See i am a cruise traveler. i love them and we went to this tiny private island in dominican republic and it had no running water. by the time i got there as u can guess i had to pee so i went in a search for the bathroom, rustic is an understatement..wood plank door, hardly a roof, broken mirron cracked sink no toilet paper not seat no water no trash can they emptey by throwing in the grass right outside..(i also was hit with a flare about an hour later) i could only think how relieved i was for a bathroom when everyone else refused to use it. ic really changes you. to us a bathroom is a bathroom..esecially when u cant hold it for another min. i didnt care what it was like now of course i prefered the cleans ones on the ship with a seat and light lol :)

I totally agree with you! I have used many a nasty bathroom in gas stations that I wouldn't have used before. And thank goodness they were there.

My husband comments on the fact that when we go visit my family in Houston that I know all of the gas stations/restaurants down on Hwy 71 or Hwy 290. Thankfully, most of them are clean.

lol! I can sniff out a bathroom a mile away. Whenever my friends need to go they just ask me where the rest rooms are!
