(A note from ICNDonna: Neither the ICN, nor any other organization in the world, has recommended books by this author. They are one patient’s opinion – not backed by research. We recommend, “The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide,” by Dr. Robert Moldwin as a more reliable option.

My apologies, but, for legal reasons, we must add this to any message posted on our boards which recommends books by this author.)

HI, I would like to know if the book, Along the Healing Path, is an approved book to read. I really want to try natural therapies, but don't want any false hopes, trying things that will do more harm.
I'm reading Confident Choices now and is really helping me to understand how to control my diet.
Thanks for any advice

Neither the ICN, nor any other organization in the world has recommended books by this author. They are one patient's opinion - not backed by research.

"Confident Choices - Customizing the Interstitial Cystitis Diet" by Julie Beyer RD is an excellent book written by our very own Julie B who is a Support Leader on these Boards.

Julie is releasing another book, "Confident Choices: A Cookbook For IC & OAB" to be released September 1, 2008.

Another book to take a look at is "A Taste of the Good Life" by Bev Laumann.

"The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide" by Dr. Robert Moldwin as a more reliable option for information about IC.

These four books are available in the ICN Shop. http://www.icnsales.com/

As Sharon said, the information in the book is one person's opinion and not backed by any research. If you do read the book, I strongly recommend you discuss any recommendations you read there with your own physician before trying them. It's just not safe to embark on a treatment program without professional guidance.

I know the pioneers treated themselves, but life expectancy was something like 40! It's just safer to take advantage of all of the medical research by working with someone who has gone to medical school.

Warm hugs,
Donna

I'm trying to control mine through diet...I'm completely new to all of this so I'm doing it all through trial and error. I'm reading the "The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide" by Dr. Robert Moldwin and I have the "A Taste of the Good Life" by Bev Laumann. I am eating a few things that some consider bad for a little bit to see if they also irritate my bladder or if I'm lucky not to have to drop chocolate! Good Luck!

Thank you for the information!

I am assuming that "Solving the Interstitial Cystitis Puzzle: My Story of Discovery and Recovery" by Amirit K. Willis is also in the same boat, being a one-patient opinion not backed by research?

Thanks in advance. =)

edit: The correct title should be: "Solving the Interstitial Cystitis Puzzle: A Guide to Natural Healing." The source I had online had the incorrect title.

I would suggest getting as much information as you can. I don't care where good information comes from and whether it's been validated by research, as long as it helps me.
