I was prescribed elavil 10mg...I cut the dose to 5 mg because my heartrate increased and was worrysome...it seemed ok until a week ago and the increased heartrate came back. I stopped taking the elavil at that time but my heartrate is still up. Has anyone experienced this?...could my heartrate still be increased even though I stopped the medication a week ago?
Thanks!

Yeah, that's a side effect from Elavil. It can cause tachycardia. You really need to tell your doctor right away, because they'll probably want to pull you off the Elavil and put you on something else. Mine hasn't gone away after I stopped taking it. The same may be for you. It can also wreak havoc on your blood pressure. But definitely tell your doctor, they can't help if they don't know :)

It would be a very good idea to talk with your doctor about this.

When I tried Elavil I also had increased blood pressure and a rapid heart beat. When I stopped, things returned to normal.

I have a fast heartbeat but I also have high blood pressure and both are controlled with meds. My uro tried to suggest Elavil to me and I had to tell him that it may cause tachyardia. He immediately dismissed it! :loco:

I tried Elavil, but had to stop it after only a few days because of rapid heartbeat and elevated blood pressure --- my blood pressure shot up to dangerous levels. By all means talk with your doctor as soon as possible.
