I am not in a flare. Do you fee like this when you are not in a flare? My bell yin always big and have pressure and tired all the time. I get to where I tell my freinds that I am busy when they ask to do something instead of telling then I am so tired. They don't understand.. I don't understand either.. Why the fatigue with this...
Does any one have any suggestions on something to take for energy?

What medications are you on? I know that some will cause severe fatigue.

I know how you feel, I felt that way for a long time. I thought I was sleeping, but I was not getting quaility sleep, so was very tired. I had to lie down everyday for a couple hours so I could drag myself up to make dinner, to go to sleep on couch till I could go to bed. It took a long time to get over this. But it was the quaility of sleep not actual amount of sleep I got.

I just registered and got activated today. Ok, then. I do have the tiredness as well. It is not hitting me too much right now. I actually take Provigil sometimes.(or I would be screwed at work) In fact, I still feel like I may just fallout every now and then. At least, I am a custodian and have been able to keep my job so far.(13+ years) I was diagonosed with IC in 1997. Ok, then. I can sleep 5, 6, or 7 hours and not feel much different. Oh, yeah! I do realize 5 hours is not a recommended amount. Anyhow, I can be off work because of an off day or a vacation day, but I may end up taking a nap at some point. Besides, I may be online and start to feel like I am ready to doze out of the blue all of a sudden. Of course, I don't take Provigil every single day.(and then I may still get messed up)(not always tired) Regardless, I have had different tests done by now. I even take Synthroid, but my thyroid is under control and has been for years now. A nurse practitioner said once that I must be having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Oh, well! I don't tavel too much anymore. That will be all now.

I stay very tired all the time also. Doesn't seem to matter how much sleep I get I am just always feeling wiped out. By the end of the work day I am on the couch especially after dinner. I am lucky that my husband helps out with dinner. Wish I could snap out of it.

I have read that several IC patients have been told Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. That is one of the conditions that gets listed as a medical condition that some IC patients have besides IC. Maybe Monica has got it as well. I don't know, but she did not mention anything about mentioning it to any doctor. Actually, I am noticing some more sinus trouble and/or allergies right now. I even stayed home frrom work Wednesday night because of it. (and get sinus trouble out the ying-yang) Ok, then. Count your blessings and be good.

I think it is definitely a possibility. I go see my urologist on tues to see about getting a hydro done and also about some irritation in the nether regions so i think i might talk to him about that too. He probally will think Im crazy by the time I leave. Since I had pyelonephritis in July everything is so flared up, its driving me crazy.

Pain can be one of the most tiring things there is. And medications can also cause extreme fatigue. You might want to check for side effects of all of your medications (including any herbs) to see if you can find a reason. And by all means ask your doctor.

I did talk to my dr about being tired all the time but he said it was probally because my IC had been so flared up. He thinks it will get better when the bladder straightens up. I wish he would do some labs and see if it is anything else though because my legs also kill me when I am flared up.

I had posted a thread, or whatever under prayer. Of course, you are allowed to read it. Anyway, I was saying I had given blood in order to have some blood work done. Yep! It seems like I have been feeling more weak and like I am hurting some lately.(bummer) (even nauseated sometimes) The doctor looked at my chart and asked a few questions and got the nurse to take some blood. Of course, I kinda figure you want to have the same thing done. Oh! I don't want a bad report at all. If so, I guess I will see what I have to do. Ok. I will post after results get told to me. I gotta get offline and get in bed before I just lose my mind right now. I do work 6:00pm -2:00am, but I was not thinking I had been home as long yet. I wanted to come on here bad enough. I was checking something else at first. I feel like I am zoning out right now. I do think you may need to get some blood work done, too. I am going to be getting offline now. Keep us informed and be good. bye for now

Just to let you know, I had the fatigue for quite sometime after being diagnosed with IC. I would ask the doctor and he felt it was all the things mentioned above as a possibility. I had asked the doctor if he ever checked my thyroid levels and he felt there was no reason. I insisted because I had noticed at an IC support group meeting I was attending, there were several woman with Hypothyroidism. This is one of the overlapping conditions that can sometimes go along with IC. Anyway, my doc was surprised to find I had autoimmune Thyroiditis (Hypothyroidism) and that is why I recommend to everyone that you be your own best advocate...This message board is a great place to educate yourself!
It's a simple blood test and everyone should make sure they get it checked if fatigue is on the top of your list for symptoms!

Have a great day!

hey, i feel for you. i have hardly been awake since my ic started a year ago. i definitely have chronic fatigue because of the ic. now that my bladder is scarred, i can only sleep about 5 hrs in a row before i get up. i rarely go back to sleep and then i have to get up early for work and i work long shifts. chronic fatigue is just the way it is these days and i must say i sure do miss being awake and feeling vibrant. course there may be other reasons why you specifically are tired.

Thanks for the advice. I see my uro in another week for a hydro. I might need to call my family doc but he just moved away. I think the long working hours have alot to do with it too.

My bloodwork all came back good. She just wants me to take a multivitamin. (like what I did have in the drawer) Of course, I was not taking one too often. I am off all week. Ok, then. I slept good and took one and went down to Savannah today.(less than 60 miles away) Anyhow, I am starting to notice some tiredness by now. At least, I got by. It is just 93 degrees outside right now.(97 earlier) Whew! It may be only 88 with a rain chance tomorrow. Ok. I did throw in a little extra. Yep! I was not planning to mention the weather at all. Oh, well!
