The times when I thought the bladder was leaking I don't think the fluid was coming from the bladder. Not after today. For I don't know how many months there are times when I feel what I think is a sudden heavy flow of blood (which I have always had with my periods) isn't. It's just plain liquid. No color just like water. Anyone else have this? I do think I am in the beginning stage of menopause so thought maybe that was what was causing it OR maybe some how the heparin is getting into the cervix through the instills? I still have that air coming out problem from there too which is worse before and during my period. Can't remember what the doc said caused it but I just wonder if maybe some how when the cath was pushed in way to far it poked a small hole and the heparin gets through the hole??? Sounds crazy I know but I haven't a clue how else liquids woud be getting in there. Nothing goes into vagina except a tampon. Oh, lots of times too I take that out and it's soaking wet but no blood. Sorry for the grossness of this post.

Mary, the heparin wouldn't get into the cervix through an instill. The urethra is a completely separate place than the vagina, even though the opening is right there above the vagina. There really is no way this is possible with an instill going into the urethra. I don't have an answer for you but if it's a concern you should ask your doctor. I never have understood what you mean by the "air thing" either. If you want, pm me and maybe you can help me to understand what is going on. I was a gyn nurse at one time, so maybe I can help.

It's air bubbles coming ot from the vagina. I can feel them. Sometiems big and sometimes small but most of the time it happes when I've been standing for a long tim or when I lift or stretch in bed. Day before and during my period it happens more. The PD said something about the intestines connecting to the "thing" which I can't think of. It's too early in the morning :bonk: ubt the thing that the baby grows in. Think that is why when I do have my period it has such an awful smell. Not normal. I do have fake eruthras. Not sure how else to explain them. I have one real eruthra opening and many other fake ones. Sometimes the nurses put the cath in the fake ones and it feels like it's going into the vagina. Very painful too. I've asked many times where those places lead to and they never answer me. Maybe the bladder is some how leaking into the vagina?

Next time you go to your doctor's office, I suggest you write down your questions, then write down the answers you hear while you're there.

Do you have fistulas? Tunnels from the bladder or rectum into the vagina? That is what this sounds like to me.
And what do you mean you have fake urethras? Do you have these tunnels on the vulva as well?

I second that it sounds like you might be dealing with a fistula. A simple home test to check for a bladder-to-vagina (vesicovaginal) fistula would be to take a pyridium, insert a tampon and leave it in for an hour or so. If the top of the tampon is orange when removed this would be an indication that urine is leaking into the vagina.
Regardless of what you think might be going on, only your Dr will be able to properly diagnose you--by all means bring this to his/her attention.
Wishing you well....

Yes, fistulas is what the doc said it was. Must be you know about this or have it? Know what causes it all of a sudden. He didn't say anything more about it to me so guess it's no big deal. Just annoying. I'll Have to see if I hae any pyridium and try that. I'll google this and see what I can find out.
Where you put the cath in I have more then one hole. I call them fake ones since they lead to no where. There is only one hole that leads to the bladder.
Thanks for the information. :)

Mary....I've never personally dealt with a fistula however I know a couple of people who have. They are a risk associated with surgery and trauma. While a vesicovaginal fistula isnt an emergency so to speak, it should be diagnosed and repaired as it can be a breading ground for chronic UTI's..and never mind the annoyance.
Regardless of whats causing your issues, I hope you an answer very soon.
:)
