progestogen-only pill?

I was just prescribed Micronor.
which is:

"Micronor contraceptive tablets are a type of hormonal contraceptive commonly known as the 'mini pill' or progestogen-only pill (POP). They contain the active ingredient norethisterone, which is a synthetic progestogen, similar to the natural progestogens produced by the body."

My Urogyn said I needed to start taking BC because I have been having irregular periods, which means im not ovulating?

Which she said leaves me at high risk for developing Ovarian cancer in 5-10 years...yeeesh:confused:

Has anyone taken this form of BC? did it affect your IC? Make your IC better? worse? etc.

replies would be greatly appreciated.

I LOVE micronor....
it helps me with ovulation flares and just before period flares...
Since estrogen is a big trigger for me so it helps so much....
Since when i had the combo pills (estrogen and progesterone) the first day i took it would start me into a flare so yeah i love micronor for that....

I appreciate the feedback. Now i'm not so hesitant to take it. I was thinking twice about it, because I was afraid it would put me in MORE pain:confused: but I got on here and googled IC and progesterone and it said it COULD help my IC as well as my periods.

So I'll give it a shot...

May put a hole in my pocket...since I dont have insurance its 30 bucks a month:/

But, I gotta do what I gotta do.

I just searched old posts on progestogen BC and I read this hormone can be the worst for the IC bladder....ahhh..

Well some women flare with progesterone.....
with me it was great since i flare with estrogen.....
and you have to also keep in mind that with micronor, the progesterone is made from a derivative of testosterone so its a bit different than the natural progesterone supplements that are all progesterone....
since my bladder didn't really like prometrium and that was pure progesterone that is from natural sources.....
but the micronor since its a chemical and derived from testosterone for some reason its totally different with me....
really you should give it a try and you will know within a day or two of having it whether you flare with it or not....
with me and the combo birth control pills....it took a couple hours after i took it and it flared me so really you will know pretty much right away....
i hope this sorta helps....
i don't really understand all this stuff but it sorta makes some sense....
but yeah i would give it a go and see.....
