First instill in almost two years.

I did the 9 instill treatment series when I was diagnosed with IC. I have not had too many bad flares in the past two years thank goodness. (just little ones) I have been on Elmiron for awhile now. For some reason the past two weeks I have been in an AWFUL flare. Thankfully I took Azo this past weekend and it helped some with the pain. I went to the Urologist today and was given some Utira-C which I guess turns your pee blue? I have never tried this before just the Azo, so I am used to orange pee. lol! not blue. I hope this helps some. I was also given another instill. It has been awhile since I've had one so I forgot what it was like. Ugh! I am having so much burning right now I am miserable. I forgot how much it burns afterwards. I am just hoping come tomorrow I start to feel a little better. She said I can come back for more instills if needed but sometimes during a flare up just one can help (let's hope so). Is there anything else you can do to help during a flare? Thanks!

The Utira-C should help. I find the ones that turn my urine blue help better than the ones that turn it orange, but that is just me. Also you can up your water to dilute your urine. Another thing if you have some Lidocaine gel you can apply this after you pee and this will help some with the burning. Also alot of ICers get relief by taking baking soda. Just be cautious if you have high BP..I hope your flare passes soon..

Thanks! I have used lidiocaine in the past and it made me burn SO bad. after a few times I vowed to never use it again. I haven't heard about the baking soda thing and will have to look into that. Thanks! I have to wait to try the blue stuff till tomorrow per the dr. I'll be interested in seeing if it helps.

Sorry you burned from the Lidocaine.. Do you know what strenght it was? I know I can only use the 2% the 5% is to strong for me..OH and they also have 1%
