Hi all,

Today is my first day of my cycle, so I guess not the best moment.

I feel terribly tired, my head spinning, my heart pounding and I feel so cold although I don't have a temperature. When I get up my sight becomes dark for a second.

In the past few months (when I started to have clear symptoms of IC) this has become something I have nearly every day.

Then working, cooking ordoing anything at all is very very difficult, and I can't cope with the most simple things.

It's so frustrating! Does it happen to all of you?

Pretty much everyday! You have to figure out what your "have to dos" are and learn that other things may have to wait. Coming from being a former OCD person for many years, that was a hard thing to except, but my life benefited from it when I finally figured things out! Sometimes I wish I had my old OCD self back, but hubby would rather help me out than deal with that "wrath" again! Of course it's not like you can just drop everything, but I learned to take a "catnap" when I could and drink lots of fluids (water) and keep the protein coming when I had to keep my energy up.

I was and still am a huge list maker. Instead of writing lists of what I planned on accomplishing that day, I started prioritizing them from the most important to the least. Sometimes I got a couple things accomplished sometimes I didn't get anything accomplished except going to work and making sure my kids were okay.

I was fortunate that I have a very helpful husband and I had someone come do the ordinary cleaning at my house every other week to keep things in some sort of order, which having kids, that mean cleaning their rooms so the cleaning lady could actually find their floor, but that was so worth the money when my kids were growing up. I did without other things to have that privilege. Once my kids were in high school, I took their rooms off the cleaning ladies to do list. That became their domain and if it was clean or not didn't effect me. I didn't mind their doors being closed. But they also had their own chores around the house. If they weren't done, they lost their privileges. There were plenty of nights I remember them trying to wash a load of underwear so that they could have clean undies for school the next day. The soon learned to keep their laundry done!

Some of the people on here that know me well, know that I no longer cook (very often) being that my huby and are enjoying our life of being empty nesters, but when my kids were younger and certainly I had to feed them, I always made double or triple meals since I was cooking anyway and would freeze the leftovers. I always made a roast on Sundays and the leftovers were stew another day. I would also fix a turkey breast (easy since it was pretty much put it in the oven in a bag) and slice it up for sandwiches. My youngest son's favorite was when I made fried chicken legs. I used to make 2 packages of 12 at a time. That was normally his lunch for the week! I made good food that was easy to prepare and to reheat and I wasn't cooking and cleaning everyday. Our life was too busy for that anyway with ballgames and practice constantly. But at least that meant I could either sit in my car and read or take a nap, or if I had the energy, hang out with the other moms.

It all becomes a balancing act, and learning that we are not expected to be all things to everyone. It's amazing the freedom that comes with relearning things. I had a friend that used to always tell me to watch a lazy person do things, they were always the ones that found the shortcuts and had the best inventions! Of course I was never blessed with inventions, but I believe that I have raised two self sufficient sons. They certainly aren't perfect, but listening to many of my other friends that are sending their kids off to college now, I was way ahead of the curve! My older son is already a pretty good husband. We are still completing some chapters on my other son! LOL!

Hugs, T83

Hi April,
I find that some days my allergies kick up and I feel like I have the flu. I avoid perfumed products and harsh chemicals and have done a lot of allergy testing and take an alternative anithistimine. It does help. Have you been checked for Fibromyalgia.

you may want to check into fibromyalsia. lots of ic suffers have this condition and it causes extreme fatique, among other things. this is not a normal fatique that most understand. it is like have cement blocks tied to your arms and legs. it makes it hard to do the simplest of things at times. the good news it comes in flares just like ic. there are good days. i would check with your dr.
