Does anybody have any info they can share with me about: cyclosporine?
I'm trying to help someone out with getting info (that's pretty simple, hardcore medical jargon and such might be too much right now)
Long story short: Her daughter is ill, with what--I don't know, but it's not IC. But this cyclosporine may help her. But I want to help her mom get some basic info on its function with auto immune, the pros, the cons, you know basic stuff.
Or what did your doctor tell you about this drug. This kid is only in her teens so they're pretty leery of jumping in without really knowing what it can do--good and bad.
If you don't have articles....can you post info you gathered from your Doctor appts, or PM me if that's more comfortable.
Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!!!:angel::angel:
Well, this is medical jargony - but seemed one of the least medical jargony of the articles I saw:

Here's a family friendly one - but it may be too basic:

Its really strong stuff.
I took it several years ago while I was a patient at the University of Chicago when my colon almost had to be removed because I had such a severe case of ulcerative colitis.
You don't want to be on it one capsule more than you have to be but it did save me colon.

Since I have very bad UC and IC, I would love to find out more about immunosuppressants like Cyclosporin A. I am definitely never letting anyone inject my bladder again. The findings seem incredible on the trials comparing Elmiron and Cyclosporin-13% remission for Elmiron and 59% for Cyclosporin? Is this right?
Is anyone still taking this med with success, and where is it being administered? I really want to talk to patients (not drs) about side effects and whether it works for them. I am not happy with the meds I have tried with little or no success.
My body is in terrible condition. I have lost a ton of hair (barely covering scalp in back). My last two fingers & toes tingle and the sides of my hands and feet are numb- circulation issues. I am cold all the time. I am nauseous and have 99 fever many days but somehow manage to feel cold in my limbs while hot in abdomen and chest. Multiple migraines. I am fatigued, have mini-blackouts, and get winded doing the smallest task. I feel malnourished. And worst of all, my brain is working slower and I can't remember things I usually am very on top of.
I need something that works. My diet is the perfect combo for IC and UC, very researched and crafted. I drink nothing but water. Diet is not doing it for me. My acupuncture greatly helps the emotional part and sleep, but the diseases are still going strong and stiil in pain. Need help soon. Advice???

Hi, My old moniker was "Roandro" and one day it just stopped working so I went back to my first sign in name of "Izazen" after many failed attempts to capture the former.
Anyway, Dr Stephen Hanauer took me on as his patient at U of C in 1999. I was so bad off I was (sorry) dripping blood on the floor and filling up the john with it, too.
Dr. Hanauer is head of their Gastroenterology Dept and specializes in only the worst cases of UC and Crohn's. He put me on cyclosporin for about 2 weeks and it did the trick. I've been in remission ever since.
My Traditional Chinese Medicine MD was very much against my being on it but I felt I had to stick with it. He said it has terrible side affects and 'advised me to go off it asap which I did when Dr Hanauer said I didn't need it anymore.
I hope this helps. I've never noticed any side effects and its been 10 years.
