I have been doing some of my own research...
Ha. im desperate to figure out why nothing is helping me...
So I started doing a lot more reading and I heard of something called Uricit-k which is suppose decrease the amount acidity in your urine.
The only things is this stuff is potassium citrate(which sounds harsh).
but when I googled I found that some uros give this to people to help with the burning etc.
Has anyone tried this stuff?
Also are there pH strips you can buy over the counter to check the acidity of your urine?
Replies would be greatly appreciated:help:

It sounds similar to Prosed DS, Urelle and Utira C (which is the generic of Urelle). I have been on Prosed DS for over a year now and it was a miracle med for me. It is used for people with chronic UTIs, but they have found that it helps with spasms and burning too. What is different is that with Prosed DS and Urelle is that it suggests to drink things like cranberry juice to help with the acidity and alkalinity, but my doctor told me to ignore that part and just drink alot of water with it. It took about 2 weeks for me to see the results, but now I rarely have burning and never have to try to empty my bladder anymore. For years, I had to concentrate just to get a little out. Now I can hold my bladder for well over an hour with no problems and I feel like I am completely emptying my bladder. No more second voids.
I just read the info on it and yes it sounds like it is in the same class of meds as what I take. Just to let you know it will turn your urine blue, which is another reason you need to drink alot of water with it.
I have only tried the acidity strips once since I have been on the Prosed. Due to your urine being blue, it can mess with the results to see if you have a UTI. I thought I may have had one in June, so I bought the strips and the first one I used (I had been off the Prosed for a few days) was possitive. I went back on the Prosed to help with the pain and burning and I used another one it it was hard to see the results. But it did show after several minutes.

I don't think its the kind that dyes your urine colors...haha.
I meant UROCIT-K. Its Potassium citrate.
Its something different. it says:
Potassium citrate (Urocit-K) is a urinary alkalinizing agent used to prevent certain types of kidney stones. It may also be used to treat certain conditions of the blood and body tissues and other conditions as determined by your doctor.
and it decreases the acidity of your urine.
and I read something in the Interstitial Cystitis Survival guide and an article thats says "To decrease urine acidity, clinicians may prescribe potassium citrate (Urocit-KŪ) taken twice daily with meals.
Im still trying to find those strips...so if someone knows where i can get them let me know.
thanks.

I did try for 6 monthes which was long enough for the elmiron to start working. It did help with the burning most of the time. I am off it now and hardly have any burning.
