Dr. Paul Fugazzotto, Ph.D. and MSPH, University of Michigan, a microbiologist who was well-known among IC patients, died on August 6, 2008, in Rapid City, SD. He spent 60 years working in state laboratories and retired as the director of the State Health Laboratory of Nevada. He continued to work in his home laboratory until the age of 90 helping patients whose own laboratories were unable to find bacterial pathogens in their specimens. Through the use of a classical broth culture he was able to isolate pathogens not found by the routine cultures used universally still in labs today. He was a tireless worker and always had time to talk to patients and describe his findings and philosophy. He has written a book which his family hopes to publish.

Many who may not even have heard of him are being helped since his method is still being used and providing answers to sufferers. Although dismissed by the many his work was impeccable in quality and someday will be recognized for its originality and importance. His obituary and the opportunity to sign a guest book can be found here: http://www.osheimschmidt.com/index.cfm His family, especially his daughter, Marilyn, enabled him to work for many years until his health failed at age 90. He died at age 95. May he rest in peace.

I met Dr. F. briefly at an ICA convention --- he was amazingly active at age 90.

My sympathy to his family.
