I am new to the boards and was diagnosed with IC about 6 months ago, oh and I am also going through testing for diabetes as well. I am 32 and am becoming overwhelmed with health issues, I am in very good shape and just dont understand why this is all happening.

I am in college right now I had been balancing full time work and college for the past year but the time has come where I need to quit my full time job in order to pursue my nursing degree. I have enough in grants and loans to help me with living expenses if I work part time. This is my problem however: I will be losing my medical insurance and I dont know if I can go without the vesicare and ami for more then a few weeks without being completely disabled. I have heard however that they will not count my grants and loans as income if I apply for medicaid for me and my minor child, but I dont know if this is true. I can't be completely sure if I am going to be eligible for medicaid and my question is are there any programs for me to get these medicines cheaply in the US or any programs out there? I am between a rock and a hard place, I know I will be approved for medicaid if I get rid of the grant and loan money but then I can't pay my rent.

Hi there and :welcome: Now I could be wrong but any student loan money or grants you receive for school, is not held against you when applying for medicaid. That is how it is in Pa. I am not sure if all states have different guidelines, but I know if you called your local county assistance office and explained to them whats going on, they can tell you what options that are available to you. Good luck, Lisa

Schools offer medical insurance and you might have to pay out of pocket for that... and they generally have good "deals" on price. The one my school offered was terrible for medication prescriptions... so I stayed on my dad's insurance.
