Our new baby, Daisy Mae, slept until about 3:30 this morning. Then, all of a sudden she turned into a little energetic puppy and played and played and played. She had been so calm the day before. Slept all the time and stayed right by our feet. So, since she was up, that meant I was up. I tried to go back to sleep around 6:30 when the rest of the ffamily got up, but didn't sleep well and woke up in pain. Just general body pain. Normal stuff. So, today we left her outside a LOT with the big digs and watched them play. Daisy played hard today. She is currently crashed out on my bed. AND - I have informed my hubby that HE is getting up with her tonight. Which means that I will have to wake him up when she is crying, so I might as well get up with her myself. (I know this from our baby years)
Wish me luck!

She was up every 30-45 minutes last night!!!
It was my hubby that was up with her, but his comstant in and out of bed was keeping me awake. And I was only up a few time to pee! I finally stayed up with her from 3:40 to 5:30 then put her in bed with me. Daisy Mae slept pretty good, unti the cat tried to get into her spot. Oops. So, we are trying to keep her awake so we can sleep tonight.
Grrrrrrrrrr.

My new Pup is a chocolate labrador. She did MUCH better last night, but it really ruined my evening trying to keep her awake. She got to the point that she was asleep while we were playing with her. She was OUT COLD. She slept until about 4:00 this morning thenI got up with her until about 5:30. Put her in bed with me and she didn't really get back to sleep. She kept moving around to this spot and that. Finally at 6:30 I told my hubby that HIS dog :) wanted to get up. So her got up with her and put all 3 of the dogs outside. I hear her testing her lungs now. She will bark/howl for attention. It's not working. I am in here on the computer and my hubby is burning leaves outside. So, she's getting better. I think I need to make the kids keep her awake this evening though. :) Michelle in AR

Puppydom is the reason we have a four-year-old dal*****n sleeping on our bed! When she was a tiny baby, I finally gave up and took her to bed with me so I could get some sleep. All I can say is it's lucky neither of us chose a St. Bernard --- or worse yet --- a horse!

I am trying to remember what I have heard about how to help with that puppy stuff. We can't have dogs where we live and as much as we are on the go, we wouldn't. I think I have heard a wind up alarm clock, because of the ticking, and a radio on low where they sleep.
She is sure cute though. She will get over this soon, I hope anyway.:)

I feel for your sleepless night. I didn't think our dog would ever sleep through the night and like Donna I also gave in and put her in bed. I now sleep with 2 Golden Retrievers and a Brittany Spaniel. Hubby is over there somewhere I think LOL. Good Luck

Donald jept having to put Daisy Mae back in the middle of us last night. She kept wanting to lay on the other side of him and he's afraid she's going to fall off the bed. He finally gave up and got up with her around sun rise. She is currently crashed out in front of the sofa. It's going to be another long night. I am thinking of moving her crate into my bedroom. Maybe if she hears Hubby snoring all night she'll sleep better? Here's wishing. Michelle
Oh Michelle, your puppy is so cute, I imagine she is full of life, but what a cutie. I had to laugh at Donna's post about her dogs and good job it wasn't a horse, that was priceless. Hope you get more sleep tonight, hugs Iris.:D

I've heard that putting something of yours in her bed will help when they are small and coping to their new surroundings. A shirt or sock, something that has your smell......wouldn't hurt to try??:)
Hope tonight is better!

I just wanted to say I love dalmations! When I was growing up, we had two dalmations. Actually I love all dogs. But dalmations are my favorite!

I know how you feel, I have two maltipoos that are eight months old. When we first got them the only time we could get them to sleep was to put them in bed with us, which was cute at the time because they were only 1lb, now they are 3lbs and full of energy.
They wake up every morning at 3am and fight, growl, jump, and bark, they feel like they own the bed. Now I can not get them out of bed with us.
i have been trying to lock them in the kitchen, or put them on the balcony with a huge dog bed, but they cry and bark so loud that my neighbors start to complain, the minute I open the bedroom door they are as contempt as can be.
Try to get the puppy out of your room for your peace of mind and sleep, every time i wake up to pee thew dogs wake up also because they are sleeping on me.
Good luck

Wow! What a cute puppy. I love labs. I have a big ol' burly black lab who comes to visit me everyday. He comes to the front door, and I let him in. He has a dog biscuit and then follows me around for part of the morning. He's so funny. I have two dogs also. Is anyone into birds? I share my home with an Umbrella Cockatoo, Yellow Naped Amazon, Severe Macaw, and several other smaller birds. I breed on a small scale. I love my birds, they've helped me keep some sense of sanity for the last 2 years. Thanks for posting. I feel all warm and fuzzy looking at your pictures. What a sweety.

I am sitting here in a haze. My eyes burn. I am so tired. I slept little last night. AND it was not even my night to get up with the puppy. Donald was up with her most of the night. However, she'd whine or bark and he'd not hear her, so I had to wake him up. By that time, I am already awake. I'm making weak coffee. LOTS of sugar. I have a house to clean. My hubby's Grandpa will probably be coming over today. I got some e-mail pictures for him to see. Anyway, Yes, I agree with you all. Daisy Mae is SOOOO cute, but I don't like her much right now. Then again, I don't like ANYONE much right now. I'll like everyone more later ~ AFTER I get soem more sleep.

WHY did I get a puppy?? Ok, so the little fat bundle was too cute to resist. ANd she is a good girl. But, seriously, if she does not start sleeping through the night I am going to SCREAM!! It was my night to get up with her last night, can you tell??? Hubby left for work at 7:00 and put the dogs out. So, I did get to sleep until 8:30. Praise God for that! She wanted to play last night. Static, our cat that will play with the dogs, was taunting her. BUT ~ Daisy Mae is not old enough to have tags on her collar yet, so she does not jingle like the other dogs do. Daisy Mae snuck up on the cat around 3:30 this morning. It was hilarious. Anyway, gong to doze on the couch for awhile. <yawn> Michelle
