Hello - everyone. I am dealing with a symptom / problem I can't get a handle on.

When I wake up on the morning when I'm lying in bed - I usually have to start running back and forth to the bathroom every 15 mins - and I might pee a little bit or VERY LITTLE bit. However, if I go back to bed and lie down, I'm up again in 15 mins, repeatedly until I get up to start my day.

This morning I finally decided to go sit in a chair with a blanket and again, I closed my eyes tried to rest and the same thing, every 15 mins I had that urge to pee feeling.

When I finally get up - things subside a bit - maybe because I'm busy with other things..but it's still uncomfortable. I'm seeing a PT for PFD but I'm not sure what help that's giving and I'm just exhausted and frustrated.

I just started taking valium and zoloft, and I already take Flomax.

I have a URODYNAMICS test on 8/7 and I'm hoping that will give me insight as to what is going on. But right now I'm down and a little hopeless about this whole thing.

I am just guessing here, but this could be caused by your muscles holding urine in your bladder all night. Tight muscles = hesitation????

Normally I am up 2 - 4 times during the night - I think last night I was up at 1:45 a.m., 3 something, 5 something and then 6:30 - this is typical.

Can you ask your doctor about adding atarax to your regimen? That really helps make me drowsy and sleep better. I had to take high doses of ditropan xl for a while to get rid of that constant "gotta go" feeling - especially when I would try to sleep. That med might help. Also maybe some sort of antispasmodic like prosed or urelle - I take utira-c which is the generic of urelle when the urge creeps up. I don't have to take it every day, just when needed. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

I hope the test on the 7th will give you some answers.

Warm healing thoughts headed your way,
Donna

Eric...When you get up at night, do you drink a glass of water before going back to bed? If not, your urine will be stronger during the night. So, even though you are getting up several times to relieve yourself, you are still holding undiluted urine which in turn might be causing the urges you are talking about.

Hi, I have that problem every morning, and it lasts for hours. I can tell you what my doc said when I asked him, he said I am not emptying all the way when I wake up, therefore I have to constantly go until I empty. From sleeping and not going and tight muscles as Sharon said, I don't empty completely in the morning. I go every 15 minutes for hours until I empty completely. Some mornings my urine comes out really slow to and sometimes its normal, they think Elavil could be the cause for that or contributing to the retention part, but I have had the frequent urination in the am for a long time.

Yupe, I had the same problem too until I started takig the vicoden along with the hydroxyzine and heparin instills. I think it's just that gravity starts to take over and the bladder maybe would rather stay in bed. I still think if I could walk upside down on my hands the bladder would be a happier bladder.

Thanks for the thoughts - so yesterday I drank a bottle of water (16 oz) during the day and then last night I had another 4 bottles.

Last night when I went to bed at about 11:15 I was up and down every 15 minutes. I tried laying on my bed, then went to sit on a chair, then the couch, and each time I had the same response. I didn't get a wink of sleep last night.

I did feel that I might be retaining a little urine but I can't understand why the bladder signals kept making me get up - it's almost like a timed thing.

I'm beginning to wonder if there is an OAB component to this whole thing - hopefully the test on August 7th will give me some answers. It's just so darn uncomfortable.

Today I am going to head to the ER to see if I can get something to help me relax and sleep. I'm so exhausted and just don't feel like I can keep doing this.

I haven't had a good night's sleep in months and I'm so tired of feeling this way. My fear of going to the ER is that they will simply take the urine sample and let me go home. They probably will want to cath for retention. I'm going to really try and force them to deal with me since I'm sick of going to the ER and getting nowhere.

This morning I talked to my mom and Dad and we prayed together - I know this is in God's hands and I need to trust HIM through this - but it is so hard to go through this without getting answers. The PFD diagnosis doesn't explain the OAB component in the a.m.

Hi Eric,

I don't have any advice, but I did want to wish you well on your Urodynamics test on 8/7. I hope you get some answers. Believe me, I feel your pain and frustrations. Things will get better. Just believe and have faith in yourself and God. Again, I am so sorry you are feeling like this, please know you are not alone.

Hi Eric

I am just like you or may be worse. I have been suffering since 1988.I did not have any normal sleep sincen then. Always tired and faitgued during day time. I usually go 7-8 times during night ,sometimes even 15-18 times. I have gone through cystoscopy twice,CT scan etc but doctors could not find any thing. Initially they thougth I had prostatitis (sorry for spelling)so they bomarded with heavy doses of anti-biotics but to no avail. I am very food sensitive. Eat only limited foods and drinks.
Pleae let me know with your findings.
