Does cyclosporine help with itchiness?
one of my main uncomfortable symptoms is itchiness.

I was wondering if Cyclosporine helps with itchiness....my veterinary suggested it for my dog's allergies!!

I use cyclosporine eye drops for dry eyes. I have never taken it orally.
I don't know what side effects it has, I guess I have to do more research.
if anyone knows the above please let me know.

I did a quick web search on oral cyclosporine for dogs...there is a wealth of info out there regarding it's approved use for various types of dermatitis in dogs. :) Hope it gives your dog (and possibly you) some relief!:)

Thanks Briza! I know that cyclosporine lowers the immune system, at least that's what is it written in the literature of the ophtalmic cyclosporine solution for the eyes (Reatsis) that I use. It says not to use it if you have an infection....so I wonder if it is a simmilar mechanism as the steroids.....hmmm

I'll do some research this weekend.

PS: Well...for the dog I would no longer know since I ended up having to give it away to a ladytat has $ and time to take care of him. I miss him...

Ohh, I'm sorry you had to give up your pup:(, but am happy to hear that you were able to find a good home for him...I hope you can take comfort in that :grouphug:
I know you've been having problems with the itchies for a while...keep us posted on what you find out about oral cyclosporine for human use for skin issues. Should be easy to find info...there were tons of sites about its use for dog itchies when I did the search.
best wishes...Bri
