I came out of a horrible flare and have been feeling better for 2 weeks (after 6 weeks of instills 2x weekly). Yesterday, I suddenly felt like I was flaring again.

I thought about the things I had consumed, what had changed and can only think of one variable, and I'm wondering if it has any affect on IC.

About 2 1/2 years ago, my building at work started having a "sewer gas" smell. We have all complained, yet nothing has been done. It is worse when it rains. It rained quite a bit Friday, and yesterday when I came to work the smell was so overpowering, we experienced headaches, nausea, and fatigue. They told us to prop the doors and get fresh air- not much help.

I was wondering- could this cause my IC to flare? After working for a few hours in the stench I started hurting bad for the first time in a couple of weeks. By the time I went home at the end of my 14 hour shift I was miserable. I am at work again today, smelling the God awful smell again. I already am feeling the affects by my headache returning.

If there's a Department of Environmental Quality office anywhere near you, you and your fellow employees might discuss getting in touch with them. It's very possible you are working in an unsafe environment. If nothing else, the stress of working in such a smelly place could easily cause a flare.

Good luck!

I agree with Donna!! I am renting my house, I had a huge crack in my basement and my walls were starting to crack, my landlord assured me that would be fixed within 30 days of me moving in, well a year later it was not fixed. I had to call the township and they gave him 30 days to fix it due to it was not safe for us. Now because of the crack in the wall, I have a huge issue with mold, everytime one of us goes into the basement, we get sick. I happen to have bad allergies as well and I think the stress of the mold knowing its there, makes me flare! I am moving because of it and my landlord told me to go in the basement and clean the walls with bleach. :( So even if you can call the township, they can direct you to the Dept of environmental quality. I don't know if I could work with that smell. Good luck!!

Thank you guys! I called my boss, and they have moved me upstairs. They are supposed to have someone come check it out tomorrow.
