I am needing opinions. I am 35 and will NOT be having more children. My baby is 10 and I've had my tubes tied for 10 years.

I am considering ablation but it's not always permaemant. I have HEAVY periods. I'm talking overnight pads all the time. Constantly during my period.

I wonder if a hysterectomy - if even partial - is called for. Wouldn't that take care of my periods all together?

And while thinking about it... it's good to keep your ovaries, right? What if I get struck with the notion to donate an egg to someone some day? How does that all work?

rambling. Killing time. Irritating my teenager by staying online....

Thanks, Michelle.

I thought about this and opted for surgery to take my uterus out. I'm still in the planning stages of it and am waiting on my ins co to approve it, then we will schedule it.

I just don't like the idea of going thru something relatively painful and having a chance that I'll wind up having surgery anyway.

The options he gave me today at my appt were depo provera which I declined because of weight gain. I know that weight gain is a HUGE thing with depo because I used to give it routinely in a clinic I worked in a long time ago. I'd see the girls come back 3 months later 25 lbs heavier.

The other was to wait for menopause which is not an option for me! Too many years away, well, at least 6 or 7.

The 3rd was a partial or total hysterectomy, so we opted for the partial and we're going on that assumption as long as he doesn't find any endo.

I don't know if I helped you at all, but my doctor didn't even suggest it in my case and if he had I would have declined.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Sandy

I had an oblation about 11 years ago for fibroid bleeding that was just a mess. It worked great for 10 years, then I started spotting again and found out the lining had grown back. I opted for a hyster last year and now dont have to take progesterone which I hated.
