Y'all should be proud of me because I made an appt with a doctor I liked a lot when I was working. He treated the nurses very well which is saying something for a doctor, plus his patients loved him. So, I'm nervous...but my plan is to talk this guy into taking out my uterus and leaving the rest. I make such a terrible patient! :(

Sandy, I had a complete hyster. and it was a blessing in spite of the fact that I have to be on hormones. I had endo and ic, but after the endo was taken care of, that is when I thought I would be well copletely, then they realized that half of my pelvic pain was the ic, Don't know if this is the truth but everyone that had a partial, had to go back and have the rest taken out. I am not suggesting this., b/c I don't know it to be true, but it is something to think about when you talk to him. I do know that the period pain is horrible along side with the ic. Good luck and my prayers are with you that it will help you either way you decide to go. Luv ya,
JJ:pray:

I just don't want to go into instant menopause. I'm afraid of hormones and don't want to take them if I don't have to. Told ya I was a terrible patient! LOL I know they can do partials in people without endo and not necessarily have to take out the rest. I'd like the menopause thing to happen naturally, if possible. We'll see what the doc has to say on Monday. Since it's just for ungodly periods I should be safe unless they find endo this time around. The only other problem I had was a single cyst on my ovary and it burst and I don't think I've ever had anymore....

Love ya too! :)

My mother had a partial (kept her ovaries) way back in the 1960s. She did not have to go back to have them removed. She went through a natural menopause. So, it can be done. Just think how much better it is now as compared to then. Surgical procedures are much more advanced now.

you are so right Sharon, Back when I had mine, it we seemed like a fad or something, They have come a long way since then, I just tend to think that nothing has changed much since I don't even know what they sell in the grocery stores anymore b/c I never get to go much. LOL Have a great day.

Consider having the cervix out also. I kept mine and ended up with a prolapse cervix. That surgery was worse then them taking out the uterus!! Keep ovaries (I did) I agree go into menopause naturally.

Sandy,
I just wanted to let you know the other side as well. You know I had a hysto. I did have a history of endo as you also know and that I had very painful IC flares when I got my period. The dr that I was seeing at the time (too far to drive now with gas prices going so crazy and other reasons) thought that the period was flaring the endo obviously and then the endo was flaring the bladder. Since I had endo that had grown through my bladder wall about 5 years ago I didn't think that was too crazy. He wanted to therefore take everything out, including the ovaries and cervix and then be able to control my hormones and thereby hopefully calm down my bladder.

I can't say that my bladder has been calmed down by the surgery other than of course the fact that I don't have my period anymore which I am greatful for and really didn't expect for more than that, hoped, but didn't expect.

Anyway, thanks to Lisabar36 getting her surgery before mine she suggested the ville dot HRT patch since that's what her surgeron had used for her. I had my surgery in the morning and in the afternoon the nurses were placing the clear, rectanglar, pretty small in size on my stomach.

Because of my age my surgeon wanted me to be on the highest dose of the patch which is 0.1 mg though obviously there are lower doses for different women's needs. I really liked the idea of the patch because I get such a low dose of the hormone because it doesn't have to go through my digistive system before doing it's job.

For me, I had much more hot flashes and felt much more menopausal while I was on Lupron with add back hormones to try to stop the menopause symptoms than I do now that I don't have my ovaries anymore.

I know that everyone has very strong feelings about what they what done and that's good because you should know what you want done with your body. I personally wanted to get rid of all of it and was okay with being on the patch. It's just something else to think about if the dr does want to take your ovaries too and wants you to go on hormones. Then maybe you can ask if he's had alot of his patients on the vivelle dot patch since it seems to work well for more than one IC patient. It surely doesn't cause any more bladder problems for me than I did before the patch and no more painful periods, which I love.
