Found a lump on my neck

Im freaking out , I found a small hard lump near my lymph node . I am also a smoker :bonk: I know it may be nothing , but its frightening me none the less . It doesnt hurt until I started messing w it for the last hour . If it was something serious wouldnt my white blood count be off ? I ask this because when I was in the ER last month , the doctor specifically told me that my WBC was good , so thats good right ? Im sorry for the paranoia , Im just worried and needed to vent it .

I had a hard red lump in my throat once - it stuck out like an arrowhead "V" and I really freaked out. I, even, had to wear a scarf on my neck to cover it up when I went to work.
It was there about 3 or 4 days and, eventually, it just went away.
Hopefully, yours won't be anything more serious than that.
We always worry so much and it, usually, turns out to be nothing.

I think with everything you are going thru you are like me, we tend to think the worse!!! If anything you might have a virus or an infection and your glands are swollen! Or, it could be your Thyroid! I doubt seriously it is a lymph node especially since your blood work came back good and I doubt it is your Thyroid! Probably you have a virus or infection and your body in fighting it off! I can feel my glands whether I'm sick or not!! Take a deep breath and relax!! I honestly believe your "A" okay!! :smile tee

If it isn't gone in a day or two, I think it would be a good idea to check in with your primary care physician just to be certain.

If you are worried, definately show it to the doctor.

Most likely it is nothing. Generally, the doctor has an idea if biopsy is needed if he/she feels it. It could be a cyst, a node swollen due to infection, that will go down on its own. Sometimes, if there is reason for concern, they will try a course of antibiotics to see if the lump goes away before taking a biopsy.

White counts do not have to be elevated for it to be something serious.
