My little sister has a pair of leather flats which are SOOOO ADORABLE not to mention were a fortune! However boy do they SMELL like stinky feet.... I was wondering if you ladies knew any way to clean them or i should say de-oderize them. It'd be a waste to throw them out, plus she'd kill me. lol so any help on cleaning tips would be helpful.
i actually read to wash them in the machine then put them in the freezer??! that has me puzzled lol

Have you tried sprinkling baking soda on them. Are they the soft leather that can get wet?

Try spraying them with Febreze and leave them by an open window to dry. She could also try putting some medicated foot powder in them to prevent them from smelling.

they;re the really soft flexible leather... so i guess i could try washing them. she was going to throw them out and i said eh lets try to clean um first. if we ruin them then we will throw um out. Baking soda... on and in them? how long do u leave it in there?
tried the febreeze, didnt work lol

I have some of those rope sandels and a pair of those soft leather ones. I have washed both of those in the washing machine on delicate with baking soda and let them air dry. They both came out really well. Mine weren't stinky (LOL) but very muddy and those rope sandels just pick up everything. They looked practically brand new after I washed them.

I would try Febreze first. It's pretty great stuff.

If she was going to throw them out anyway, I vote for the washing machine.
They will probably shrink a little when they air dry. If that will be an issue then stuff them tightly with newspaper while they dry for at least 3 days. If it is not an issue - MOST leather shoes get too stretched out anyway - then let them dry empty for a few days.
My son is a bull rider and when I can't stand it anymore, I run his chaps - leath chaps - through the washing machine and hang them to dry. Normal cycle, normal soap. They've lost about 4-7 fringes but considering the hundresds of fringes on them I'd say it's a good deal.
Let us know how they turn out!!

Looking at the actual cause, suggest to your sister that she start soaking her feet in tea (2-3 family sized tea bags in a foot soaking tub). The tannin in the tea will help stop whatever it is thats causing her foot odor issue.
My son--whew!!--he could clear a packed pavillion. Finally got ahold of this tip..problem solved!
Hope you find something that works!

Our pediatrition told Emilee to use anti-persperant on her feet to stop the sweating. It worked. My kids wear jeans and leather boots 90% of the time. Talk about STANK! (that's worse than stink) LOL
