My little sister is moving in with me, and we cant afford to buy her a new bed yet. Our family friend has givin us a futon. It's a queen, metal frame.... the mattress however is umm moldy?? It's got a cover but if you unzip the cover the inside is stuffing so its not a normal mattress. I heard that if you lysol it and leave it in the sun to dry out it should be okay?
I mean worst comes to worst I'll have to buy her a new mattress but if this mattress is salvagable then I should keep it right? Its not bad looking, its just got white spots on the cover.... any other suggestions on how to clean it? Thanks for you help

I would toss it and get a new pad if you can possibly afford it. Mold can be pretty hard to get rid of. One thing you might think about is one of the inflatable beds. We have one that we use when we have more people than beds. It blows up to mattress shape and is very comfortable. The only drawback is that it's on the floor.

Is the mold in the pad or cover? If it is the cover only buy a new cover. If it is through the whole thing then you should toss it and get a new one.
