I know that everyone here has some kind of health problems, whether IC, or potentially IC, or they wouldnt be here, and many ICers have many other health problems on top of the IC. But, in spite of everything bad that ICers have going on, I DID notice one thing as I was browsing the site today and looking at all the pictures....ICers sure are beautiful! Seriously, ladies, have you noticed there isnt a dog in the bunch! :D Nope, not a single one!

I know everyone HATES hearing "but you dont LOOK sick!", (myself included), when we feel so bad, because it seems like it just another form of invalidation. But, when you consider evverything most of us have been thru, we OUGHT to look pretty rough by now, so maybe people are just suprised that our bodies have been thru so much but are still holding up on the outside! Lord knows we have earned the right to be showing some miles on our bodies by now! But, I just thought it was remarkable that in spite of everything, how great everyone looks here ANYWAY! But, then again, I remember a med I used to take that turned my pee blue, that had when it combined with other things turned into Formaldahyde in my bladder! Yep, I was walking around with emabalming fluid in me! LOL!

Seriously though, I think it is b/c we dont get much sun, (since most of us on here feel too bad to do much outside). Also, we all drink tons of water, and most ppl dont do that! And then, b/c of the IC Diet, we all have to eat pretty healthy. Not to mention that we all have to see Drs pretty reg, so labs are taken pretty routinely for other stuff, so if we are low on a vitamin, we have a decent shot of catching that too, (well, at least better than a healthy person would!) :)

So, even though IC sucks, take a look around you sometime at the pics on here, (particularly the older ones....the ones where we know how old they are b/c of the b-day in the profile, yet they dont look anywhere NEAR their age! And take some comfort in knowing that even though you FEEL bad, you all still look beautiful! Like I said, it is especially inspiring to me to see the faces of the Senior ICers, and see that they've "still got it". It gives me hope that if I ever "get it" that maybe I wont lose it either! :)

When I was dxd, I thought, this *** disease is beyond painful and I'm going to look like a haggard older than I really am in no time.

Nope....Most people, including the massage therapist I went to last week - and she saw me in the all together- say I look 10-15 years younger than I am.

I have a wonderful SO who is 25 years my junior! Demi, you aren't the only good looking cougar out there with a gorgeous SO! :biglaugh:

Seriously, I think it's more of a blessing to not have this illness take away our looks too. Yes, there are times when I would want to look as sick as I've felt- but only when seeing the doctor.:smile tee

The massage therapist I had was a 78 y/o woman with severe scoliosis and breast cancer that had metastasized to the pelvic bone and liver. Her last scan showed NOTHING on her liver and she is using some naturopathic things. She has really severe lympedema in her left arm - very swollen b/c radiation killed all her lymph nodes near her arm so there is no proper lymphatic drainage. I even asked her how she managed to work with her arm so swollen. she said it helps the circulation. I also know that part of the reason she is still working is her horrific medical bills. Yet with all of the negative things in her life going on, she is one of the sweetest people ever.

She was so wonderful....like having a dear grandmother fuss over you. This lady is deformed, battling cancer, and yet has the most beautiful sweet face and look what she gave me even with her own terrible health issues. Barbara is truly an inspiration.

Anyway, how do you post a picture with your handle? LOL
