Urethral Diverticula

Well I was wondering if anyone has ever been diagnosed with diverticula and if so could they tell me about it. My new Urologist seems to think I may have this and that is what is causing my retention and leakage. She said it was like a pouch/blockage (?). I'm more confused now than ever. So I have to go for some test on Monday and then see her back with the Xrays on Tuesday. If I do have this diverticula, it would require surgery. Have no clue what the surgery would be like. I was disappointed because I could not get any pain meds except for some Oxtyrol patches. I have never tried them but read on one of these posts that it was like Ditropan. Oh great... I was on Ditropan and I have retention. How could this possibly help???? I'm so tired and drained from all of this right now. She said my bladder was full of those hunner ulcers. She was reading my notes from my old Urologist and this was 9 years ago under the hydro. She said I was covered with them on my bladder and the surrounding tissue, etc. I never even knew this. I just was told I have IC. But then in another breath, she said my bladder could hold a huge capacity of water. Again, I left there more confused and disappointed. Oh well. We'll see what Monday and Tuesday bring. Thanks!

I am so sorry that you found out that you had hunners ulcers and that you could have this diverticula...
yeah i have heard that the oxytrol patch is the same as the ditropan but apparently not as many side effects but i am not sure about retention though..
i think there is someone on the board who is on it....maybe in the other treatments one or alternative therapies....
i hope you get some relief soon though...you need it...:pray::pray::pray:

Thank you Sharon for posting that article. I read the entire thing. The surgery sounds a bit scary. I will know on Tuesday if I indeed have this. I will keep you all posted. Thanks to all who responded. I hope you enjoy the weekend!!
