burning and instillations

My main symptom with IC is a burning in my urethra pretty much constantly. I am getting weekly instillations right now, but am wondering if they will help the burning in my urethra or are they just made to help people with bladder pain. Has anyone who has had the burning symptom been helped by instillations...I don't see how it could because the medicine is held in the bladder, not my urethra. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My main problem is burning in my urethra too and rescue instillations have helped me. I first started them when I had a flare about a year ago. They made my urethra feel worse for about 12 hours and then things calmed down and I felt better. I was having them done weekly but have tapered down to once every 3 weeks now. Between Elmiron, Atarax and the instills I've been feeling pretty good lately. :) I still have the occasional burning but it's been a lot better. Good luck!

I just had my first instill and I feel like I'm about to die! The burning is unbearable! I can't sit on my bottom! I'm peeing at little spirts and every drop feels like acid! When did the burning stop for you?
