This is good - I can't get any doctors to even think about prescribing it so maybe some others can and then there will be more info on whether it really works for a certain percentage at least. PV

Thank you for responding so promptly to the requests made for a Dex forum.
It's great to be able to have ONE place for following this topic instead of looking all over for it.
I know I speak for everyone when I tell you we so appreciate the effort you put into this wonderful site.:smile tee
Perhaps soon, there will be so many IC patients who are at least able to give this treatment a TRY, that doctors will be more willing to Rx it as an appropriate treatment for those of us not responding well enough to other more standard treatments.
Thank you again for being so attentive to our needs.

Thanks from me too, Jill. I call it "the good news page," because there's an awful lot of good news posted there.
Now I can have my doc check out the thread and find everything he needs to know. I appreciate all the ducks in one row, so to speak.

It will be interesting to know how this pans out for the oldies like myself. Is this the med. that you take for fatigue. If so I need it. For the ones already on it , is it helping. I seemed to have missed a lot of discussion on this subject.

Hi JJ,
Like you, I've had IC probably over 20 years, and have an appointment at the psychiatry department of University of California Irvine in order to get an Rx for this.
The link above is to the page where you can find all 200+ posts on this med.
If the link doesn't work, click on "search" next to "new posts" and type in "Dextroamphetamine" w/o sulfate- you'll get more hits that way.
My appointment isn't until August 19th, so I have a long wait. I live in southern California in Orange County and the doctors here are scared to Rx it.
I have a very good rapport and have been my gyn's patient for over 10 years. Even after talking to 2 doctors/NPs who use this treatment, sending her journal articles and posts, she still will only "consider" it.
I understand that she doesn't want to risk her career by being the first M.D. it this ULTRA CONSERVATIVE community to treat IC in this way, but still...it's very frustrating b/c in order to get a CHANCE to try this med., I have to shell out $175.00 cash :help::headbang:(UCI doesn't take my lousy Anthem insurance -can't blame them) and then $80 per month for a "medication re-check" that will probably last all of 15 minutes.
My insurance would cover the visit to my gyn.:bonk:
